My best friend and I built a 1969 V-W into a 1940 Ford Woody over 17 years, based on plans from the 1982 edition of Popular Mechanics. I carefully, methodically built this with the best parts and craftsmanship I could find. The title is clear & is licensed as an antique car. The engine is a 4 cylinder standard V-W engine. The trim is mostly original, except for the 1940 Ford hood. The car, as long as I have had it, has always been garaged. The roof is vinyl & is attached to the car by the original tack like trim. The original push button radio does work but not well. The floor pans were replaced & all the shocks, brake pads, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake lines, a new fuel tank, a new clutch cable, wheel bearings, the engine were completely gone over by a V-W mechanic and found it needed a new carb & tune up that he did. The mechanic replaced the heat box although he never put the hoses on. He went over the engine and some parts were replaced. We have the receipts of all parts and outside work done on it. The car uses only one quart of oil every 2 years & I owe that to leaking. I applied new fenders & running boards, also there are 8 coats of marine varnish applied. The body is FLAWLESS. The main reason for selling it is that I am disabled & can no longer give it the love & attention that I have given it in the past. There has been many hours of work & love put into this car. I have enjoyed not only the fun of building it but the fun of showing it also. My grandkids and I have been in many parades and classic car shows with it as part, sometimes, of the VW club.
