Vehicle Detail
Available for a new owner is this spectacular 1965 Kaiser Jeep Gladiator J300 4 wheel drive truck. It is an amazing survivor with only 33,600 miles and original paint. The ol truck runs and drives like a low mile truck with the exception of a steering bellcrank that has some play in it. Driving this truck is like taking a trip back in time. It's a happy truck and has the same effect on people wherever you take it. I have been driving the truck regularly for several months now and it has been an absolute pleasure. Yes the steering is a little heavy & slow. The brakes are manual but work excellent. The engine runs perfect. Hot or cold doesn't matter. It runs smooth, and starts easily every time, and is very quiet. If it weren't for the melodious sound of mechanical lifters you wouldn't even be able to tell it's running. The ol motor is that smooth and quiet. The ride is surprisingly plush for vintage 4X4 and I keep a little weight in the bed against the tailgate to improve it even further. Keep in mind this is a 50 year old truck though. You cannot get out on the Interstate and run 70 mph. It's geared too low like most 60's truck. The 4.27 axle ratio is offset by the tall, skinny 235/85/16 tires. The column shifted 3 speed works perfect but 1st gear is non-synchro. Those of you who know to properly double clutch won't have an issue. I don't. The body is as solid as about any vintage 4X4 you're going to find. No rust in the cab, doors, fenders and floors. The only rust is in the bed. That's it. There are some dings and dents. After all, this was purchased as a work truck in 1965 to be used on a Ranch. It was sparingly used until the original owners passing in 1999. Precious few miles have been added in the last several decades. Because of the frequent in/out use of the doors on the ranch the latches take a spell every now and then and wont latch unless manually rotating the door latch. I have all of the original paperwork from new. This includes the owners manual, warrantly card, lock out hub manual and some other interesting tidbits. If you have any questions or concerns I would more than happy to talk to you about it. My #is 573-230-6222. You may also text or send an e-mail if that's your thing. I believe I have a very low reserve and the truck is also for sale locally. Thanks for lookin!
