Vehicle Detail
This is a 1964 Lotus Elan Series 1. It is an original California car that has never been restored. It was owned by a long time, multiple Lotus owning enthusiast, who put it away in a garage in 1979 and never saw daylight again until I bought it 3 years ago. The Lotus Archivist has verified that this car has the correct numbers, engine etc and was sold from Lotus to Ecurie Shirlee Corp. (a Los Angeles Dealership) on the 23th April 1964. This is a great opportunity to buy a car that will be a appreciating in value at a very advantageous price. I started to address a few issues on the car but have stalled due to work and family pressures, so I would like to sell it on to a collector who appreciates what an uncommon find this is and will finish the car, use it and cherish it. As an unrestored car it is not perfect, but it is very nice and has a really cool patina. The body will polish up very well and will look great for a 50 year old car! The seats are very good with no cracks or splits, the original Frog Skin interior is good and cleans up very well. The dash is not dried up or cracked. The car has the original engine that is complete but was just removed from the car to be overhauled. It was running, but I wanted to put new Bearings seals etc in it for hopefully long term trouble free running. The car is fitted with period Cosmic wheels and looks good, but the purist will probably want to put it back on to steel wheels. I have a set of steel wheels that have been powder-coated in the correct color and come with a very nice set of Lotus Hub Caps. These will be included. The reason the car was taken off the road in 1979 was that it threw a Donut joint on the Right side, this has not been replaced. It also did some damage to the fiberglass in the bottom of the trunk. No Diff damage, and the fiberglass repairs should not be too difficult to do. I have many pictures and will send them on request. I will facilitate shipping anywhere, but all arrangements must be made by the buyer. For any California buyers, I even have a set of CA Black Plates that I will include. Please ask any question and I will do my best to answer. ianashdown@pacific-composites.net
