Vehicle Detail
Hello all, Ok Im actually doing it! Your looking at my baby! Yes on Ebay. I cant beleive it either! This has been my pride and joy and the most fun car I've ever owned. I would never consider selling it, but my girls need college and I havent saved any money for that. So my most valuable toy has to help a more important cause. Here it is! A 1978 porsche 911. Actually it is more of a 1984 m471 turbolook carrera cabriolet. As the story goes from the previous owner who owned the car in california, the 1978 911 experienced complete engine failure and so they found an 84 turbolook carrera convertible that had experience a sub frame damage that was beyond repair. So they employed Scientific Automotive in Pasadena California ( porsche only garage) to take all body panels, engine, convertible, and interior from the 84 and bolt them to the straight 78 unibody. This was done sometime in the 90s, and the car is straight, well sorted, and impressive to drive. The previous owner drove it for years, before he came to VA where I purchased it. (he bought a new Porsche) Ive enjoyed every minute in the car and I've driven it countless times to VA beach over 4 hours away. It just sets up and goes, runs cooler than a cucumber and purrs like a kitten. There is also no valve ticking from this engine like most older 911s have. Not only have I enjoyed driving it, but have also completed several upgrades too. Including (are you ready?) a $2000 Bitz racing complete electronic fuel injection system that is tuned to perfection and can be tuned via laptop computor if your looking for a stronger racing setup. I have tuned it for performance and decent fuel economy. Im getting around 20mpg. Also over the last couple years added new brake bads, rebuilt calipers and stainless steel brakelines on all four corners, new oem muffler, Rear bf goodrich tires, popup valve on intake, new clutch and crank shaft oil seal, plugs, K&N filter, and valve adjustment. I have upgraded the car with light weight euro rear bumperettes(i still have the U.S. ones for you too), light weight engine heat sheild, shorter shift kit with new nylon shifter bushings through out, an aluminum foot pedal floor board, performance steering wheel and Porsche 8ball shifter knob and new leather shift boot. Sony hide away sterio and cd player. The car is an antenna delete so it doesnt pickup stations, but you can hook up your mp3 with radio and play cds. In the last 2 weeks I have changed the oil and filter, and bought a brand new battery. As far as the turbolook body, some people dont like the boxed rocker panels, I thought I wanted to change them and after I bought standard turbo rocker panels, I couldnt bring myself to change them, so they will go with the car if you so choose to do this. Also, as a bonus I will also add my older laptop computor, that has the software for tuning the car, that I connect to the onboard computor in the car for adjustments. I would leave it as is because its perfect, but if you ever had to re download the final settings it would be invaluable. I've never had to do this and you can remove the car battery and the settings are still stored in the cars computor chips. Its a very fail safe system. Also, I still have all the original cis mechanical fuel injection system you will get too, if you ever bump your head and decide to put it back in the car, you can. I have a history report printed out for this car and the title was a clear title, till it came to VA where they just had to add the rebuilt brand to it due to the work done many years before. Other than that, there were no accidents, thefts or any other issues found. 120k is the actual mileage due to the intsrument cluster coming from the same car as the engine, which is the impressive 3.2 liter bulletproof engine with turbo chain tensioners.Ok, this car is 37 years old now and nothing is what I would consider perfect on the car, but here are the best and worst things about the car. The best: I would have to say the engine and fuel system have paired up to be an absolutely amazing power plant for the car, and also this car is truly an absolute rust free, very solid bodied vehicle. Ok, the bad: I would have to say the paint. Although it is still complete, The repaint that was done in the 90s, though it was very good, is now blemishing in several areas due to it starting to let go of the galvanized body. if your looking for it to be a gem, you will have to get it redone in the near future. But, if your someone who just wants to enjoy driving it, like I was, it should last several more years. Its been like this since I bought it several years back, and Its still on there. A stunner still from 15ft. as the photos show. I'm sure I've forgotten something, but if you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking and happy bidding. This is a no reserve auction, the starting price will buy it if you are the only bidder.
