Designed under the guidance of Sir William Lyons, the car was a longer and lower version of Jaguar's D-Type. Manufactured between 1961 and 1975, its combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing established the marquee as an icon of 1960s motoring. On its release Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made". Early Series I E-Types are among the most admired models Jaguar ever produced. This car, completed November 21, 1962, was dispatched shortly after on the 29th to Jaguar Cars, New York and sold new to Vilmos F. Sostarich. This car is fitted with its original numbers-matching engine block and colors as verified by the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. The cylinder head was replaced during a prior servicing but the original cylinder head carrying the matching number is included with the sell. The car is equipped with manual transmission, classic spear seats, aluminum center console, toggle switches, chrome wire wheels and the closed headlights most indicative of early XKEs. Wearing correct White paintwork over Red leather upholstery as it originally left the factory, the car remains an ideal driver with an honest presentation and strong mechanicals. All electronics are in correct working order - The car runs, drives, handles and stops with no notable issues. The paint and upholstery reflect that of a driver quality example, with excellent chrome throughout, while the cabin is fitted an original and rare Blaupunkt radio and etched glass. Both bays are tidy and in maintained condition as well. Correct spare assembly accompanies. A very collectible example true to its heritage, this Coupe possesses the thrilling driving experience and styling inherent in Jaguar's E-Type as a desirable icon for collector car enthusiasts.
