Vehicle Detail
I bought this truck after the previous owner completed all of the body work and painted it with (enamel) red paint. He replaced the fenders with fiberglass fenders, the bed was replaced, the cab and doors were all prepped and painted. The frame and floor are very solid and there’s no rust. It’s shiny and red looks great in a crowd, but there are some imperfections, it’s not a show car paint job. This truck is a driver, which means it will get compliments everywhere you take it and if you want to toss stuff into the bed (aka use it like a truck) it will do the job. I removed the previous engine (a worn FE390 and a C6 transmission), all the wiring, gauges, stock front suspension, brakes, etc. and plated the frame, installed a mustang II IFS kit with a new crossmember, front disc brakes, rack and pinion steering, the 5.7L Chevrolet engine (4 bolt main) was originally a throttle body injected motor with only 52K original miles (it came out of a municipal 3500 Chevrolet truck). It is now a naturally aspirated engine with an edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, edelbrock carburetor (with electric choke), aluminum finned valve covers, new (mechanical) fuel pump, new steering pump, electronic ignition, new serpentine belt, and new wires and plugs. The Chevrolet TH350 (turbo 350) automatic 3-speed transmission has new front and rear seals, new screen, new modulator, and I installed a lokar shifter. It has the stock Dana rear end with 3:92 gears and a new pinion seal was installed (it is not a posi rear end). The engine is cooled by a brand new custom built aluminum radiator with a high CFM volume electric cooling fan which works off of a Spal temperature sensor and Spal wiring harness. There is also a bypass switch on the dash for the radiator fan. Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, GM brake booster, new brake and gas pedals. I installed new carpeting, JVC CD stereo (under dash) with box speakers under the seats. New Dolphin in-dash gauges (volts, oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, speedometer, and odometer), new fuel sending unit, all new wiring harnesses (both under the dash and under the hood). All wire connections were soldered and shrink tubing applied and it comes with detailed fuse diagrams. The heater, headlights, hi-beams, courtesy lights, horn, directionals, and brake lights all work. Tires are all in great shape, Ford aluminum wheels are from a 1991 Ford F150. The bed has stainless steel rails and wooden slats. The truck is on the road and I’ve only put about 600 miles on the truck since last summer. It is kept in a heated garage all winter and in another garage all summer when it’s not being driven. What needs attention: Nothing really needs attention but I didn't install an emergency brake. The transmission leaks when it sits for a long period (pretty common), the driver's side window is plexiglass (it's only up when I wash it), the rest of the windows are original and they are de-laminating on the edges. It could use a wheel alignment since I haven't had it done since I finished the build last year (it does steer straight but since the front tires are brand new they may wear in time if the alignment is not performed). That's about it, it's a great truck but I have a few more cars and it's too hard to find time to drive it and move it around when storing it ("thinning out the herd"). I've been an ebay buyer/seller since 1999 and with over 700 transactions I still have a 100% positive feedback rating so buy with confidence. Call Wally at 716-675-2914 with any questions. You are welcome to please come look at it, drive it, and then decide. I'm advertising this truck locally so I reserve the right to end this auction early in the event that I sell it locally (but I will not end the auction if there are any bids). Several photos available upon request and on my website: wallys-speed-shop.com/wally_1951_red_ford.htm NOTE: This truck comes with a NYS transferable registration and not a title. NYS did not issue titles for vehicles before 1973 so the transferable registration is considered the title. Thanks, Wally REVISION: To sweeten the pot I just dropped my starting bid to $16,000. Scratch that... $15,000. and I added a Buy it now option at the original starting bid of $18,000. This is still a no reserve bid so it's time to get VERY serious lookers, Good luck!!!!!! (this is as low as I can go, you know you can't build this truck for $15K) REVISION #2: I don't want any surprises so I added a photo of that shitty drivers side vent window. This is the ugliest part of this vehicle. The glass is marred and it should be replaced and the frame was touched up with silver paint. I mentioned that the drivers side window is plexiglass and I would replace that as well but since the window is always down it's been out of sight out of mind. The rest of the truck is pictured just as it appears in all the photos. I drove her around yesterday and the windshield wipers work (motor) but the wiper arms themselves were not cooperating (I've never driven it in rain so that would need attention). Everything else appears to be working well. Good luck and thanks for checking it out.
