Vehicle Detail
1966 Mustang Convertible Very nice complete 1966 Mustang Convertible, V8 automatic. The engine starts and runs great, the transmission shifts well as I drove it around my neighborhood. Engine has no knocks, ticks and no smoke. Transmission shifts very well and fluid is not burnt, looks and smells very good. The car seems to be all original, I bought it for a project to rebuild with my grandson only to find out I have to have my back operated on this week. There is no sense in letting this car sit around for a long time as I convalesce, I’ll just have to find something else when I have fully recuperated. The previous owner who I purchased it from stated it was last on the road about 4 years ago. Of course the car has rust on it, but it is not one of the see-through cars you usually see on here. Rust is mainly centered around the undercarriage as all are. It will need torque boxes and front floor pans to be done right. Owner told me the engine had been changed about 7 years ago to a 302. It has an aluminum intake and Carter AFB 4bbl intake manifold on it. I put a set of points in it and it started right up. Car has dual exhausts with some type of performance mufflers that sound really nice. The power steering still works well and the power top works also. I can’t see any signs of it ever being wrecked. The car even has the original snap on boot in the trunk for the convertible top when it is down. This car is by no means a show car but it is a very good project to rebuild or put some money in it and drive it like it is. The pictures illustrate everything I have tried to describe. There is no warranty offered or implied with the sale of this vehicle. I have tried to describe this nice piece of history to the best of my ability The floor pans are going to need to be replaced. You can find them all over e-bay for about $150. I would replace the front frame rails as well. Again all over e-bay and about $75-100 per side for the frame rails. I hope the extra information here helps, most motorheads that have messed with Mustangs know what I am trying to describe but I just wanted to try to answer any questions about the floor rust. I also reserve the right to end the auction early as I have the care for sale here in Chesapeake as well. Thanks for looking and I hope this goes to someone who can appreciate it for what it is, a 50 year old original survivor that needs to have the attention it deserves. On May-07-15 at 08:14:38 PDT, seller added the following information: I feel the need to add a note to this sale. If you have less than 2 feedback transactions you need to contact me through e-bay e-mail before you bid. This car is back on e-bay because of the last person that bid but didn't have the funds to pay for the car. It's nothing against you I just don't want to go through all of that hassle again. We were all new bidders at one time but I want to make sure I'm not dealing with the same person that got me the last time. Thank you very much ...... Mike
