Vehicle Detail
A little history below for those of you who are not familiar with what you are peering at. 1991 Dodge Spirit R/T, fastest sedan built in 1991. It is still to the day one of the fastest four doors ever produced. I grew up working in a Dodge dealer and always wanted one of these cars and I love it. This was quite a expensive car in it's day, breaking the $20,000 mark. The equivalent to say the SRT Charger today. Now it's time to pass some of my collection on for others to enjoy as I take on different ventures, the Spirit will be missed. It has a clean Car Fax and documentation as far back as the first owner. I am the third owner. Car has been meticulously maintained as you can see by the photos with only a few in perfections. This car would be great for displaying in the Survivor classes at the different large Mopar events. The Spirit retains I would say 90% original paint. I believe the drivers side fender was painted at some point in it's life, the only reason I say that there is a slight paint line in the inner fender. The paint matches dead on and you would only know if you were really looking for it. I believe that it may have been a warranty claim years ago, due to the clean history report. The late 80's early 90's cars were prone to pre mature paint flaking. My Father had his entire 1990 Dakota truck painted under warranty in '93. This car has three small areas shown in the photos below where the paint flaked a bit. The car is mechanically A-1 and wouldn't hesitate to drive it across country tomorrow. It has Pennsylvania inspection good until October and needs nothing. Everything works as it should including the freezing cold A/C. Also included is about every original part ever replaced on the car as well as lot's of new parts it doesn't even need (see photos). I am going to run the auction with a low buy it now option for quick sale and no reserve and I will deal with the chips as they fall. That means, do not bid unless you have the money to buy the car, the permission, a sick family member, or you do not live in the U.S. I hate to have to say that, but I have sold a few cars on Ebay over the years and the excuses never seem to amaze me. I have the car for sale locally and reserve the right to end the auction early. You are most welcome to come view and drive the car prior to auctions end. Call me anytime with any questions on my cell, 412-974-6789, Travis. $500 deposit at end of auction. In 1991, Chrysler introduced the Spirit R/T, featuring a version of the 2.2 L engine with a 16-valve DOHC head designed by Lotus, who won a design competition against Maserati and Hans Hermann. Fed by aGarrett intercooled turbocharger, the Turbo III engine produced 224 hp (167 kW; 227 PS) and 217 lb·ft (294 N·m). The R/T also featured unique interior and exterior trims. The only transmission was a heavy-duty A568 5-speed manual transmission built by Chrysler's New Process Gear division, with a gearset supplied by Getrag. Heavy-duty vented four wheel disc brakes were standard equipment, with optiona lanti-lock brakes. Color-keyed 15-inch alloy wheels were standard, with P205/60R15 tires. At the time, the R/T was advertised as "the fastest sedan made in America", and one of the quickest performance sedans under $40,000, with Chrysler placing its performance above the BMW M5. It could reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in 5.8 seconds, according to Car and Driver, making it one of the quickest front wheel drive cars ever offered in the American market. It was chosen as Motor Trend magazine's "Domestic Sport Sedan of the Year", beating the Ford Taurus SHO for 1991 and 1992.All R/Ts were built in Mexico. A total of 1,208 were sold in the U.S. in 1991 — 774 in red and 434 in white. An additional 191 were sold in the U.S. in 1992 — 92 red, 68 white, and 31 silver. The only discernible changes for 1992 were a lower first gear ratio for reduced turbo lag, woodgrain dashboard trim as used on the Chrysler LeBaron sedan, blacked out upper and lower grille inserts, clear rather than amber lenses for the front parking and turn signal lights, and a speedometer calibrated to 150 mph (240 km/h) rather than 120 mph (190 km/h)On Apr-30-15 at 08:17:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Please message me for pictures of the underneith. I have had a few questions about it and I can't believe I didn't include underside photos, it's to late now. The underside is as clean as the top side. It has rarely seen rain so much as snow and salt.
