1961 Willys Jeep Wagon 4X4 Original, Unmodified, No collisions, Under 35,000 Miles This is truly an honest, low-mileage, clean example. I know the car well, because it has been a daily driver for the last couple of years. The owner doesn’t want to sell it, but needs a newer pickup for his camper and must sell. He doesn’t own a computer and has asked me to help him list the car. Between the two of us, we can field your questions. This car was used on a small island for many years for short trips, which explains the low mileage. The current owner has put about 10,000 miles on it. It has an older repaint which is holding up very well. Only the tailgate has a few minor flaws. The interior is completely original, with even the original spare tire and wheel. All the glass is original. The dash has not been cut or modified. There is a tachometer on the steering column which can be easily removed. The front seats need repair, but are very serviceable as-is. • This Willys has the ‘Super Hurricane’ six-cylinder engine with a three-speed transmission. • A period-correct overdrive has been installed, which allows more relaxed freeway cruising, getting 18 mpg. • The car has four-wheel drive, with Warn hubs. It has new 16” tires and wheels. • An alternator has been installed, but the original generator is included in the sale. • The car has factory-installed undercoating and no rust.
