Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a 1924 Buick Model 45 Touring. I came across this car by accident. A friend at work said he knew a guy who had just bought a house, and there was an old car in the garage that he wanted to sell. Being a car guy I went to look at it right away. Imagine my surprise, even more as I looked the car over. Being outside will age a car quick, so I could tell that this one hadn't been out much lately. He asked 6500 and I didn't argue. I felt like that was a good deal. When I brought it home the first thing I wanted to do was get it running. That is where things got complicated. This isn't like a small block chevy and I did not have a clue what I was looking at. I went online figuring all my answers would be there. No luck. That is when I learned that there is very little information out there about these cars. Most of the guys who knew about these had either died or forgotten how they operate. I have had the car for a year and a half now and have come to the realization that I am just not meant to drive it. When I bought the car I did use the hand crank and turn it over a few times. It was a chore I thought. When I got it home I changed the oil, and put new plugs in it. While I had the plugs out I cranked it by hand and it turned smoothly. I saw this as a good sign. If it turns over it will start. I also bought plug wires, cap and rotor, points and a condenser. I also bought a new battery. Kicked the starter and nothing. I looked under the dash and some wires have broken, due to age I am sure, and once again I am stumped because I can't find a wiring diagram. I am at a point where I just do not have time for a major undertaking. Let me tell what I know. The mileage looks like 33871 but the first number is hard to see, and I do not want to take it apart. The switch for lights, ignition and such is there but seems to be missing wires. I believe there should be something on the steering wheel that retards and advances timing, it is not there. I should say the handle is not there but the rest of the assembly is. The fuel line to the carb is not attached. Not sure if this was done for storing. I do know that the car spent at least 30 years in storage. The wood on the car is amazingly intact. Floorboards not cracked, wood framing not cracked or rotted. The only wood that needs replaced is the frame for the top, or canopy or whatever it is called. The Metal framework is all there and in good condition. Somebody had plans for this car because all the chrome pieces on the car have been re chromed. I posted a picture showing all the parts. I am not sure how old the tires are but they look brand new, even the spare, they still have the nubs, and they still are soft, not brittle. No weather checking. This car has definitely not been driven since tires were put on it. I have not had to put air in them since I bought it. The seats need reupholstered but all the springs are in place. Two of the doors have broken outer handles but the mechanisms are fine. They open easily from the inside. The transmission shifts through the gears just sitting here. I know that means very little but it is just more information. The muffler is split. I find no rust holes or flakes. Obvious undercarriage surface rust but not abnormal. This is a good solid car for someone who knows what they are doing. Again, I feel like someone had plans for this car and I do know that the gentleman who had this in a warehouse for 30 years, kept a lot of cars in different stages of restoration. Interestingly enough, that warehouse burned to the ground, but this car was not in it. Not sure a guy will ever learn that story but I do know that the guy who's garage it was in was a retired body man. The title is clear, and in my name. I believe that is all the information that I have. I would be glad to send more pictures if you would like. The only identifying marks I find are on the firewall Model 24-45 and on the frame behind the left front tire 1202698. Happy Bidding
