Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1957 Chevrolet 3100 Thriftmaster. I have owned this truck for 21 years and purchased it from the original owners family. It was bought new in Alexandria, LA in 1957. It shows 57K miles which I believe to be original. Always been garaged which is probably why it still retains its original wooden bed. Mechanically, it is in good condition. I have replaced the exhaust system, tires, sparkplugs, battery and serviced the brakes in the 20 years I have owned it. Runs and drives very nicely. Has the original 235 straight six, three speed on the column transmission. Cosmetically, this truck looks great put carries the paint of a daily driver. It has the usual scratches that an old work truck would have. At some time before I owned it, the right front fender and the tailgate were repainted and not very well. Please see pictures. Original owner scraped his mailbox with the right front fender prompting the repaint and the reason for some minor wrinkling of the 3100 badge trim on that side. Fender is in good shape just the repaint is spidering just on that fender. White lettering on tailgate was poorly done. Non original bumper on the rear with trailer hitch. The interior still has the original seat with two duct taped tears. Interior metal shows surface pitting. Has original vacuum wipers that work and an optional Chevrolet heater box over the passengers feet. I put vintage style, chrome lapbelts (3). Truck looks good and gets many comments. No evidence of rust or body filler anywhere except some pitting in the interior and the usual surface rust underneath. Very clean truck. I hate to let her go but fiance` forces sale. She says she needs a place to park. Could never let the truck be outside, so I would rather sell it. Let my loss be your gain. ATTENTION ALL BIDDERS.....I forgot to disclose that the engine temperature gauge eventually goes to full hot eventhough the engine is running cool. I bought this from the original owner's family this way and have driven it over twenty years with no problems or overheats. It became the norm, so I forgot to disclose it yesterday when I listed it. Have tried three different temp sensors on the engine with no help. I suspect that it is the gauge that needs attention. Apologize to all my bidders for this oversight On Feb-17-15 at 07:03:44 PST, seller added the following information: Had a few potential buyers ask about the lower, inside rear corners of the cab. I have been told that these can be problem areas on these trucks. I went in with a spot light and a camera and took photos. Can't post them as I used all 24 of my allowable photos already. This truck has no rust in the corners. Also took more pictures of the undercarriage showing newer exhaust and original frame rails that are in great condition. This truck has always been garaged and it shows. Can email these photos to you if you would like. Thanks
