Vehicle Detail
Up for auction, a 2000 Impala. Runs and drives fine. I drove it to Indianapolis twice this summer, and pennsylvania once. Its surprisingly good running for a car with 220,000+ on it, but Its also been in for maintainance pretty regularly. Last tuneup at the mechanic was this fall. Why I'm selling: About a week ago I was driving my daughter to school and it suddenly got quite loud, apparently a rust hole in the exhaust pipe somewhere. I don't know. Its 20 degrees in Michigan and snowy. I just got my pickup back from the shop and am drawing unemployement, so this one has to go. I just don't have the money to fix the exhaust and don't need it sitting here in the driveway. The good: Starts right up, runs fine, goes down the road nice and straight, stops well, and is generally an all around nice car. It doesnt leave oil spots in the driveway or anything. the floors are all good, doesnt leak water from outside inside two remote key fobs The Bad: The exhaust is LOUD. It could be an inexpensive fix, but like I said, I don't have the time, money, nor a heated garage to climb around looking. The quirks (minor things that can be expected after 200,000 miles): The drivers side window has a tendency to get off track. Its easy to get it back on track, and it really only pops off if you put it all the way down, so I tend not to, and guide it back up with my hand. The heater blower fan only works on "HI". BUT..... included is the brand spanking new switch that will remedy that. (I found it in the glove box when I was cleaning the car out... I KNEW I had it somewhere...) The Rear tires are good, but the fronts are a pretty worn. A set of decent used ones would be a good idea, but not necessary instantly. Its got some parking lot dents and scrapes. I've never hit anything with it (read: accident) but I've come out of the grocery store with some anonymously performed improvised bodywork more than once (see pictures) Something chewed a hole in the trunk years ago to get at a bag of corn I had for deer season (pics) minor rust here and there, but nothing terrible I'll walk out to the car tomorrow, and update any other quirks I may have missed or gotten used to over the years. On Jan-31-15 at 20:17:32 PST, seller added the following information: A helpful ebayer's comment: In regards to your fuel gauge if it bothers whoever wins the car they can buy a new fuel pump on here for around $35 and install via an access panel in the trunk which takes approximately 30 minutes or less and can be done with minimum hand tools and by one person there are several videos online with instructions! The pump comes with an attached fuel level so it will fix a failing fuel pump as your getting close to the mileage for that (I have as many miles on mine and have recently done this) it will also fix the faulty gauge!
