Vehicle Detail
Hello from beautiful Minnesota. Here is the story. I bought this bike in 1988 after our son was born, It was my project to restore it while he was recuperating from severe meningitis with traumatic brain injury, it was my mental health project. I found it in the local newspaper and bought it from a guy who had bought it from the original owner who is now a retired dentist in St. Paul Minnesota. In 1989 I went to one of our local Honda dealers and ordered as many body parts that showed were still available from Honda. The tank, fenders and air covers (Honda gray) all showed up in boxes, as did other parts, that were from the late 60's. They are NOS including the front fender chrome stay. I had the frame repainted in Minneapolis by the guy who painted Prince's bike for the movie Purple Rain. I assembled everything and drove it very sparingly from 1991 til about 2001 illegally (no license plate). During that time I had the title rebuilt (had to buy an insurance bond, etc.) and had to have the VJMA write a letter and found out it was a 1966 (based on the tag on the wiring harness). I have a current Minnesota title in my name. I then thought about 6 years ago I would do a frame off (perfect restoration) and ordered more better shape parts from EBAY. The tires I bought about 4 years ago and there are very accurate Cheng Shin aftermarket tires with no miles on them. I never had the seat redone but it is original with one tear that shows in the pictures. The seat pan is solid and chrome trim is perfect. I then had our daughter in college and no more fun money. I would like to sell the bike to one person but I will consider parting it out. Every part is there and if you have the patience and money, it would be a great advanced start to a "show bike" that would be worth over $6000. Write me with any questions you have and I am good at communicating and working out a deal. I have perfect feedback, pack well and ship accordingly. Jay from Edina Minnesota.
