Vehicle Detail

1968 Adventure Camper Gutted. No interior except for the 2 walk thru seats forward. Just installed a rebuilt 1641, AS41 (REAL VW CASE) (REAL VW HEADS, rebuilt) dual relief, dual port engine with Alternator. New battery, some new electrical to get it up and driving. Just did the 50 mile check. Oil change, adjusted valves and (Re) torqued the heads, so, ready to go. Goes thru the gears well, stops well and tracks well. Strong runner. P.O. lost the keys, so, have to use the (wires) to make it hot. Tires are decent. No spare. Haven't checked the brakes personally, but, like I said, stops well, no noise, no wheel cylinders leaking fluid. Will need a new brake fluid reservoir as I broke the top off of this one, and has a piece of plastic over it to keep the bugs out. It looks like it has been hit in the drivers rear corner at one time, and pulled out along with the rear of the sliding door. Long rear glass sections are boarded up (don't know why), but I found the glass for it, and will go with the bus. Also, not sure if the adventure Fiberglass top was original to this bus, lots of rivets, but, haven't delved into it. This bus will be great as a local driver while you restore. Not sure about the wipers, but, most of the lights work. Idiot lights work. Will need to be gone thru to make it yours, but, great way to pick up one of these buses and drive and restore. I'm selling with a no reserve for what a turn key 1641 engine (sans core) is going for these days. I posted this last summer without an engine, and kept getting emails of "can I drive it home" to the point to where I finally pulled it, and built and installed a motor for it. I know the motor is solid as I built it, and I've had VW's for 40 years, but, the bus has unknowns, and was sitting for a long time before I put a motor in it, and it still sits most of the time. I've got less than 50 miles on it, and I like it, but I wouldn't and don't recommend a cross country run until you break it in, and get the bugs worked out of it. Clear title in my name. On that note. Bus is sold "Where is, As is" and is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange transporting. I reserve the right to pull this ad Ok, to address some of the questions. Yes, it is a daily driver now. Would I drive it cross country? Yes, I would, but I've been driving 50 yr. old VW's my whole life, and I've spent plenty of time on the side of the road working on them. Would I recommend it, NO, as I would bring it home, and work thru the bugs. Rolls good, but, would service the wheel bearings, check brake linings for wear, and full lube, properly break in the engine before putting a thousand miles on it. Case was line bored 2 over. New Main, Cam bearings. New Piston/cylinders. Rebuilt heads. New oil pump. Rebuilt Carb. Running J tubes, but comes with the heater boxes. Steering is tight. Brake fluid reservoir doesn't leak, but, broke the plastic top off when it was freezing out. covered with plastic and a rubber band to keep the dirt out, and works fine, but, needs to be replaced. No rear bumper. I have some misc. camper stuff, that you can root thru and I can give you some links to camper interiors. Original was similar too the Westphalia S042. Anyway, ask questions, I'll answer as best I can. Once again, no low ballers, The turn key engine is worth 2k and that is what I'm going with, if it doesn't sell, no worries, it's not like they're making more of them. On Feb-01-15 at 09:53:45 PST, seller added the following information: I can hold it for any agreed amount of time, in my shop, out of the weather, but it will need to be paid for within the 7 days stated.
