Vehicle Detail

Now is your opportunity to break out of a mundane and overly-common SUV and move into a classical family wagon that will not only turn heads, but is a pleasure to drive and safely takes you wherever you want to go. This beautiful Ceylon Green Metallic 1974 International Scout ll is just the answer for that! Whether you're cruising down the highway, dropping the kids off at school, camping in the wild or making a Home Depot run on the weekend, you won't believe how easy this vintage classic drives and rides. While this Scout is so visually appealing, don't overlook its economical performance and comfort. Power comes from the gas-sipping, torque-filled "Power Thrift" 258 inline six cylinder (4.2 liter) with only 82,000 original miles on it and is backed by a smooth-shifting 727 automatic transmission. Four wheel drive is provided via a bulletproof Dana 20 transfer case transferring through trusted and solid Dana 44 axles and Warn hubs. Tires are P235/75/15 whitewall tires with good tread. Now, lets move into the visual ascetics that can't be ignored. The uniquely appealing Ceylon Green Metallic is only complimented by the newly installed, optional, original graphic blue and lime Feathers stripe kit (provided by ScoutCo aftermarket Scout specialist), new old stock (NOS) dealer-optioned chrome and wood grained roof rack, stainless Deluxe Package rocker trim and original IH badges. The paint appears to have had one repaint at some point and contains a touch up on the nose of the hood and the lower rear quarters (see photos of each area) but are barely noticeable to most. Clips and scratched have been color matched and are minimal for a garage-kept forty year vehicle. The steel body is solid and safe for any driver and their passengers. Door and tailgate hinges are tight and show how little the doors have been opened. Body panels, door gaps and seams fit just as they were designed. Original stainless hubcaps shine and are in great condition. Another great feature for the warm Spring, Summer and Fall months is the removable hardtop and sliding rear windows for that "wind in your hair feeling" and convertible cruising. Chrome bumpers, handles and mirrors shine and truly set the exterior off. But, the interior is no less than pristine and well preserved either. The original owner had a professional upholstery shop make custom seat covers OVER the unused original Sage "beautiful, supple, and easy to clean, soft vinyl upholstering" as the IH dealer brochure indicates. A small wear-tear under the driver's leg shows the perfect conditioned Sage upholstery (see photo revealing the original seats). Dash, dash pad, rubber floor cover (perfect except for a small tear in the driver's side front floor as indicated in the photo) AM radio, door panels and armrests have been meticulously maintained. Now look up! Overhead are the sun visors which are still covered in the clear plastic sleeves and a flawless, parchment, hard board head liner and rear cargo courtesy light. Not only do things look great, but every light, switch and feature in the cab work as they should.......perfectly. Rear cargo area mat in perfect condition with brand new spare and spare cover. Included in the sale is an original dealer 1974 Scout ll brochure. So, why be one of the daily commuters driving another yuppie SUV, make your mark and break out with this beautiful, well maintained and dependable classic Scout ll and never look back! * Low, very reasonable reserve set.
