Vehicle Detail
What better time to buy a motorcycle than December. You can save some money now, due to the snow that we have here in Michigan, and spend the next few months setting it up to your liking to travel next summer. Here is a fine, one owner, example of an R90. Other than needing new tires this bike is ready to ride. As with most airheads, the odometer no longer works. It stopped functioning when the bike was about five years old, therefore the true miles are unknown. A fairly accurate estimate would be in the 50k-60k mile range. The only "major" maintenance that the bike has required over the years is having the heads rebuilt about five years and approximately 2k miles ago. A compression test performed today shows the left cylinder at 132 psi and the right cylinder at 138 psi. The original wire wheels were replaced with Lester Mags. Around 8 years ago the bike was knocked over (in a grass field, not moving) which caused one of the saddlebags to crack. The insurance company was kind enough to replace both with new, OEM saddlebags. Cost on the bags was around $500. They have probably seen 200 road miles so they are in all practicality brand new. The stock headlight bucket is still on the bike under the fairing if the new owner wanted to go for the naked look and ditch the fairing. Included with the bike is a complete tool kit along with the original air pump. The trunk is a custom Igloo brand cooler with drainage holes to hold your favorite beverage. If you would like to discuss the bike over the phone please contact me and I will supply you with my phone number. let me know if you would like to see the photos in high definition. I cannot upload them to eBay. I was finally able to locate most of the repair bills dating back to 1977 including the original bill of sale. One notable recent repair that I neglected to remember was the transmission being rebuilt in 2007 at BMW of Detroit. The bike has only seen about 3k miles since this service. If you have any specific questions regarding repairs please contact me. And now for the not so much fun stuff. When you bid you are entering into a legally binding contract. Please do not bid unless you have the funds available and, if necessary, please get your spouses approval. If you win the auction the final bid is the purchase price. It is not an invitation to further barter on the price of the motorcycle. This is not a new motorcycle but a nice example of a one owner that has been well cared for. You will find light scratching and wear associated with 38 years of use. If you would like to see any specific pictures please let me know and I will supply them to you as soon as I can. A $500 deposit via Paypal is due within 24 hours of the auction closing. The remaining balance is due within 7 days of the auction closing. Cash on pickup is the preferred method for the remaining balance unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon by myself. Delivery within 200 miles or so is also negotiable. I have an enclosed trailer and would be happy to accommodate given that I am reimbursed for traveling expenses.
