I supplied all my buddies with their "hunting, camping, fishing, back country rigs" I think that other people want these older 4x4s just as we do. Please have realistic expectations, this is a very good driving Lexus SUV, it's super tight, runs and drives excellent, but it is almost 20 yrs old, 182K miles and needs some love. The Story: I was in northern NM a few weeks ago delivering some late model fleet trucks and had to take a look at the back row trade ins. I have a weakness for older 4x4s, stuff from when I was a kid. I steered clear of the super high mile (like 519K???) scary "rez rocket junkers" and found this 1997 Lexus LX450 Land Cruiser. My first car (32 years ago) was a 1970 FJ55, I have owned a lot of land cruisers since then, have 2 right now, they are possibly the toughest expedition quality 4X4 ever built. It started right up, the big 6 cylinder was super quiet, I rolled back home to Durango CO at 70MPH with tunes, leather, cruise control and a grin. I've driven this Lexus 500+ miles in the last few weeks, is a very good driver, super tight, handles great, everything works as it should, you could restore it, build an off road rig, use as a winter snow car, deer lease, cabin rig, camp, hunt, fish, ski, etc. The Good Stuff: Rust free body/frame, non smoker, has a very quiet, very strong running engine, auto trans, a nearly brand new set of 275/70/16 Yokohama Geolander ($850) AT tires, grill guard, tail light guards, new husky floor mats front/rear, is clean inside, bone stock, no teenage metal melisha (sic) bumper stickers or anything. Has seating for 7, power everything, sunroof, roof rack, alloys, tint, receiver hitch, is a very good running solid old 4X4. I recently ran into the previous owner of this Lexus at Home Depot, she mentioned that she had always taken very good care of this car, used synthetic oil, had recently installed a new radiator, went through the brakes etc. then traded it in for something newer that got better gas mileage. I pride myself on being upfront and blunt, I had my mechanic (a 16 yr ASE certified master tech, not some dude under a tree) do a used car inspection. This is what he listed as needing attention: 1 lic plate bulb out, 1 pass brake light bulb out, distributor O-ring leak, left front axle seal leaking, dampness at water pump hose, trundle seals leaking, oil level sensor leak, needs new wiper blades, all common older Land Cruiser maintenance issues. The Not So Good Stuff: (I'm probably being overly critical)The dark green paint on the hood is UV burnt, faded and discolored (see photos) The whole drivers side has been keyed (scratched) across both doors (see photos) In my opinion, this car need new paint to be super nice again. There is some damage on the bottom and side of the driver's seat (see photos) There is some minor damage here and there on the interior (see photos) eBay only allows 24 photos, email me for more. There is electrical tape around the air intake hose, a common cruiser issue, new hose is $100 (see photos) There is a place that has been repaired on the fan shroud with a piece of metal and bolts (see photos) There's some rust on the running board edges and paint peeling on the black window trim, both common cruiser issues (see photos) The drivers side mirror vibrates/wobbles at high speed, also a common cruiser issue.Please call me with questions or offers.
