1966 PONTIAC GTO PROJECT CAR 428 389 POWER WINDOWS AC BUCKET SEATS PHS DOCS 242 Located in Monroeville NJ 08343 . Easy access from all directions . No paypal . Cash only at time of pickup . Must be paid for & picked up within 10 days of sale ending . Buyer is responsible for removing this car from my property at their expense. Title ,which is in my name , will be signed over to the buyer at time of pickup. Sold as is . Here is a 66 GTO which I recently rescued from the back yard of an old timers estate who owned it since the 80's . I purchased the balance of his parts collection along with 2 cars , this being one of them, however I no longer have it in me to do a ground up resto so here it is. This is a real 242 66 GTO with the PHS documentation . The car needs everything . It has not run in years , however it may still , but I have no time to spend working on it . Originally this car was Platinum , which was a bluish silver with a black vinyl top , buckets with ( console (gone), black interior , 389 4 bbl , air conditioning ,power steering , automatic transmission (gone), remote door mirror (gone), woodgrain steering wheel & power windows with 3.23 posi rear . The motor that is in it now is a 1969 428 . When the previous owner got it, it had a tri power setup on it , but beings it sat behind his house he took it off for safe keeping & just put a 2 bbl intake on it to keep the motor sealed up. The tri power set up got sold before I got there . The transmission is a Muncie 4 speed with a blow proof bell housing . I have not checked the rear , but would suspect it may also have been changed . I would think this incorrect motor & trans would fetch about $1500.00or so , so it can help offset the cost of the car . When I cleaned the garage out I found a 1966 389 engine with the correct YS code on it . The intake is dated Jan 66 so date wise thats not too bad for the car . The engine block & heads are dated D of 66 so they were made about a month after the car was built . So in short its not the original engine and the date is off a little , but it is a correct YS engine for the car which is what the car came with . Needs 100% rebuild . The interior needs to be replaced as shown & as expected . The buckets are both RH 67 seats , but all that is needed to convert them is to remove the latches & put 66 back panels on them & they will be correct 66 seats . For some reason the seat tracks are missing . Why people take them I have no idea but they are gone . From what I see the floors dont look too bad except for the RH front floor pan needs to be changed . After they are cleaned up may prove otherwise . The trunk is shot & has already been covered in tin , but will need to be 100% replaced . The exterior body will need to be completely reskinned as you can see. I believe the trunk lid & tail light panel and roof will be able to be saved . It will need some work around the back window & the filler between the cowl screen & windshield . The windshield is cracked. The rest of the glass is in tact . I pulled the rear window out when I brought it home so it didnt blow out in tow. The frame needs the back rail changed as shown & I have a used one with the car . Not a big deal to change . There is a rust hole in the frame below the drivers side cowl .(see pic) This will need to be cut out & have a new piece fabricated & welded in . In short it can be fixed , but would be fastest to just throw another frame under it beings your going to have to pull it out anyway . There are plenty of places down south & out west that sell used originals. I did find the AC brackets , compressor & original AM radio in his garage so they are included with the car . The AC condensor is laying on the back seat along with the window trim . So, for those like me who dont have $40K or so to throw down for a done car , this may be something to consider. Having a project in the works is certainly better than having nothing if you want an old muscle car . It will certainly be a great looking car when its done ! Please look over the pics . I can usually combined shipping on SAME DAY (Note: SAME DAY) auctions depending on the size of the items or how delicate an item is .I do not want to have to wait an extra week to be paid for an item in the following weeks listings that you may not even win . For example I can not combined items like a rally wheel & a steering column because they can not be packed together because of their sizes , or a piece of NOS trim & a steering column because of how delicate trim is.
