2001 VW Beetle TDI NOT RUNNING. Picked this car up not running with plans to part out. I was told it had been run very low of oil and motor was locked up. After towing home and some checking, I found the engine turned freely, but the starter was dragging terribly. After a little work on the starter, and fresh oil, the car started right up. Sounded AWFUL! It would run a couple minutes and die. no check engine lights at this point, started it up again and drove around my yard. oil light flashed once. The car died with a rather firm sounding KA-CHUNK. Timing belt is intact and not broken. Now it spins over as if there is no , or very little compression. I fear it has suffered major internal failure.I am selling as a parts car as many items from the ALH TDI engines are desirable. I do have clean Alabama title in hand should someone want to put this car back on the road. Automatic transmission did move the car in forward and reverse. I did not not get the car up to hwy speed, so I am uncertain of any more than that. The injector pump is all there, should be the larger 11mm pump considering it is an automatic. Power windows, both sides still function as intended. Blue in color, paint in pretty good shape, small amount of peeling of front bumper area. Right front fender appears to have hit something causing a tiny hole to be punched through from the inside of fender well. Tires are in need of replacement, door panels on both doors are in need of attention, headliner is coming down. Its a PARTS CAR. or really serious fixer upper. AGAIN..... THIS CAR DOES NOT RUN...
