The engine was rebuilt in 2009 at that time the clutch was replaced; it had 212000 mi. on it back then. Two years ago the heat gauge went into the red so I took it to my mechanic. That year the car spent more time in the shop then on the road. My mechanic said the problem was the thermostat was not opening and the housing cracked. Both were replaced and he said the car was good to go. I told him while he had it I'd been meaning to get the A/C fixed and go ahead and replace the shocks and struts, and it needed rear brake pads. I picked the car up and it was still running hot so I took it back. He said it needed a new radiator and some hoses; so those are new as well. It was still not fixed, I took it back again and he finally found the problem; a clogged hose on the back side of the head. Then a new problem cropped up; if you know how to solve this problem this is the car for you. The problem is the engine cuts out. My mechanic told me the problem was the fuel pump and so that was replaced as well as the strainer. If the engine cuts out while the car is rolling; with out stopping, you can turn the key to the off position then back to the on position it comes back on. If stopped you can just start it regular. I have driven it for days without it cutting out; other times I have had to restart it multiple times on short trips. I spent $4,000. On this car thinking I would drive it another 5 years because it is fun to drive, it gets 32 MPG and it corners like its on rails. It is the rare four door hatch. With the vanity cover in place it looks like a 4 door and with the back seats folded down it holds more then a regular hatch-back.It has a broken light on the rear corner passenger side with dents and scratches around there. Last registered in 2012.
