I have a friend that is a certified mechanic and he helped me do the work. I have plenty of pictures of the job being done plus I've saved the old belt as proof that it was done. - The timing belt that was installed was a Dayco brand belt. One thing I don't believe in is installing a cheap/no name timing belt! I did want to see how they would look, so I covered the original high beam headlights with a yellow film which can be easily removed if you don't like the way it looks. As mentioned above, the timing belt was replaced and the carburetor was completely rebuilt recently. I have a friend that is a certified mechanic and he helped me do all of the work. I have plenty of pictures of the timing belt being changed and of the carburetor being rebuilt as proof. Plus I've saved all of the old parts as proof that they were done. The car IS in decent shape and well cared for as described above, but please keep in mind that it's an older car at 30 years old. It is NOT brand new or in perfect showroom condition.....it has been used and enjoyed! The body is overall straight, the paint is in overall good shape and shines well, but it is NOT a showroom condition car! It does have a number of minor dings, rock chips, minor scratches and imperfections here and there from use. There was a minor accident on the passenger's side rear quarter panel that happened before I owned it. I was informed that it was a parking lot type incident and it definitely didn't happen at high speed or anything like that. The repair in the area wasn't perfect and you can also tell that the black paint doesn't match perfectly. The difference in the paint shades mainly stands out in the direct sunlight. The paint in the area is shiny though. You can tell that it was a minor accident and that no serious or major body repair was done in that section. It is the original body panel that was cosmetically repaired, so there was no panel replacement or anything major like that. The instrument cluster window has a couple of small COSMETIC cracks in it, and it's NOT broken. These cosmetic cracks do not affect the viewing of the gauges any, and appear to be from age, not from impact or intentionally done. Now for some of the things that will need attention: I noticed recently that the starter will click sometimes before starting. I have been told that the solenoid might be getting weak or might have contact that needs cleaning. The starter motor ultimately always cranks the engine strongly and always starts the car though! Also, the engine has a manually operated choke for the carburetor. I noticed that the choke cable sticks so I don't use the choke at all. Even when the engine is cold in the morning, it will start without using the choke. Living in California, it's really not needed anyway since it never gets as cold as other parts of the world. As with most other older Italian cars, this car does have some oil leaks. It leaves some drops on the garage floor, but no major pools or puddles of oil. The coolant system is tight with NO leaks at all! I would also recommend having a valve adjustment done as I don't have any records of when it was done last, plus you can hear that the valves are loose when the engine is running. The engine still runs smooth and has plenty of power though. Please keep in mind that this is an older car and there are a few things that need attention as mentioned above. However, as with these older Italian cars, there will always be things that pop up and will need attention. It's kind of a known thing for old Italian cars! There's quite a bit work that has been put into this car, it has been well maintained and the work that it currently needs is minimal in my opinion. I feel it's priced very well considering its condition and what I have wrapped up into it. If you were to buy one of the lesser priced/major project Biturbos out there......You'd most likely be well over this amount and not even at the condition of my car. I was very picky when I was shopping for a Biturbo and I looked at quite a few. I have seen first hand some of the rough cars out there and the small fortunes some people are asking for them! Since I couldn't afford a top dollar pristine condition one, this was one of the best ones I had run across in my price range. I was particularly looking for an original/stock and unmodified car. I really don't use the car very much is the main reason why I have decided to sell. Plus, I really wouldn't mind gaining the garage space, and I could definitely use the money in my pocket too. Even when I don't use it, I try to at least start it up and let it run regularly. It's a real blast to own, and gets the attention of a higher priced exotic car at a small fraction of the price! However, it's now time for me to pass it onto someone else to enjoy. It may pass as it is, but haven't had to smog it since having the carb rebuilt. I believe the carburetor should be re-adjusted using a 4 gas analyzer before being smogged to obtain the correct mixture, hence within limit tailpipe emissions. The person I had rebuild the carburetor adjusted it the best he could by ear since he did not have access to any exhaust analyzing equipment. None of the original emissions equipment was removed on the car and I am confident it will pass after the carburetor is adjusted. I can have this done by a local mechanic's shop and obtain a current California smog check certificate for you, but it will cost roughly $300-$350 additional (worse case scenario) which I was quoted from the shop. If the actual bill turns out to be less, you will pay less. This quote included the actual smog test and certificate cost as well. Most of this quote is for the labor to disassemble the turbo boost box that houses the carburetor, make the adjustments, re-assemble, and then take down to the smog station to have the test done. =============================================================================================================================== Well, there it is!
