1998 subaru forester automatic with all wheel drive.
The engine is running on 3 cylinders. This is likely due to a burnt valve. subarus are known for that. The term "burnt valve" refers to when either and intake valve or an exhaust valve chips away or degrades. The valve and required gaskets are not very expensive but you must remove the cylinder head to replace the valve. If you can do the work yourself this may be a great deal for you! The car has never been overheated. It is drivable anywhere. It has already been driven for over 1000 miles in it's current condition. You can feel the missfire at idol but is diminishes while on the highway. I can drive at 80mph, it still has some get up and go even on 3 cylinders. The car does not smoke. The automatic transmission works perfectly. It shifts smooth with no issues. 2 of the tires are decent but 2 of them have low tread. The car drives pretty good overall. The check engine light is on due to the missfire. one headlight is not working. I can hear a slight rattle on the right front while going over big bumps. The tires need to be balenced, you can feel a shake at highway speeds. This car was just traded in at our dealership on an infiniti suv. I am familiar with this car becaused the customer is one of our regulars. The owner was in his mid 60s. He never abused the car, it just started missfiring about 3 moths ago without warning. Overall the car is usable in it's current state. You can fix the missfire later if you can't afford to at the moment. I would get a few tires for it and have a machanic check the brakes and front end components to ensure safety, aside from that I think the car is very Road-able. The paint on the car is shinny with the exception of the roof. There are some dents on the left side of the car ( I took pleanty of pictures so that you can see everything) nothing major but I want you to be aware. The interior is in decent shape. It's comfy to drive. I did notice that the A/C is not cold. All of the window work fine and so does the heat. The radio plays. I have the title in hand and on site. It is 100% transferable and resisterable in any state and has no liens. This is not one of our front line cars, this is a trade in. We will not put it through maryland inspection. Because of that fact Maryland will not allow us to issue a temp tag for a maryland resident. However out of state residents can still get a temp tag with no issue. Any required inspections will be at the buyers expense. Likewise any required repairs will be at the buyers expense. All vehicle registration fees etc. are listed in the terms and conditions section. Pleae read that aswell. The successful buyer will be required to pay a $500 deposit via Paypal within 4 hours of the end of the auction.
