Vehicle Detail

I inherited this great 1987 Silver/Gray W124 300TD 6-cycl Diesel Mercedes Wagon from my father. My intention was to keep it for my teenage son to use at college. Unfortunately, I’ve come to realize that this isn’t really the right car for a teenager mostly because of its potential cold weather starting issues. It’s not that there is a specific issue with this car’s cold weather starting but my son won’t have this in a garage, won’t be able to plug in the block heater, won’t be able to add kerosene, and so won’t be able to manage cold weather starting. All that being said, there are some issues with this car but its strong points are that it has low miles (138K), no rust, and has been very well maintained. Its 1st owner was in Georgia, 2nd owner was in Virginia, and my father had it in NY. It’s always been garaged and rarely if ever been in winter weather. My father bought it in 2001 and spent a small fortune on all kinds of maintenance and I have all the service records. The big items are as follows: 1) New cylinder head since the original head had a defect that was exacerbated by the trap oxidizer which was also upgraded by way of the latest SB 2) R&R Radiator 3) R&R Water Pump 4) R&R Vacuum Pump 5) R&R Vacuum Modulator 6) R&R struts, outer tie rods, hydro shocks, tailgate shock 7) R&R Heater Control Valve 8) Replaced climate control push button unit 9) Repair interior temp sensor 10) R&R main vacuum line 11) R&R A/T cooling hoses 12) R&R cruise control switch 13) Rebuilt injector pump In addition to everything my father did to the car, in the last year, I’ve replaced or repaired the power steering pump, steering box, brakes, fixed a leak concerning the A/T rear pump, added (4) new tires, replaced the fuel gage sending unit, installed a new front windshield due to stone chip, new battery, and replaced all fluids and wiper blades! I’m very impressed with this car’s ride and engine power but I must admit that there are some issues. 1) Radio doesn’t work and I’m not sure why. It has the original Becker 712 radio. 2) A/C was blowing cold but lately is less cold so there is a leak. 3) Sunroof opens fine but does not close without some minor manual intervention. Does not leak! 4) Center climate control vents do not actuate so some of the pods have vacuum leaks but all power door locks and windows work fine. In addition, my father believed in buying consumable parts in advance so car also comes with many oil, fuel, and air filters as well as wiper blades and of course owners manual. Hope this wasn’t too long and that I’ve described everything accurately but if not please ask? My final thoughts on this car is that it’s really a strong performer and would love to keep it if I only I didn’t already have (3) cars.Pickup is local (will work with buyer to arrange) and deposit of $500 must be made by paypal within 2 days of auction end with remainder due at pickup by tellers/bank check.
