Description You are looking at an original 1978 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 Coupe, equipped with a 350 engine. It has been well taken care of by a local owner who has decided to downsize. This is a real deal Z28 and includes the documentation when purchased new including the build sheet. If you cannot view all the photos, please click here. Mechanical Condition:The vehicle runs and drives well for the age of the car. The engine is smooth and starts right up. However, it starts a bit hard when warm which may be a missing starter heat shield or starter that needs to be replaced. It steers / turns stops better than we expected, but we would recommend checking the front end components due to age. The gauges appear to work as do the headlights, interior lights and other bulbs. The car also stops and shifts well. The vehicle is surprisingly smooth and comfortable at 45-55 MPH as well. There are no major leaks. We believe the mileage to be over 100,000 miles based on what we were told. The heater works well but we believe the A/C needs to be recharged and/or converted. There are some rattles when going down the road as you would expect. The rear pumpkin does show some seepage but it has not left any spots to date. There is a lifter that ticks every now and then but goes away under load. It did have a small trailer hitch at some point in it's life and the harness is still in the trunk. Cosmetic Condition:This Camaro is one of the nicer cosmetics we have encountered. It would easily win a local show but is not a 100 point show car. As you can see, it was professionally reconditioned years ago but is starting to show the age. The interior is also showing the age with panels fading and some light deterioration. The dash is crack free but warped and shrunk in spots. The vinyl also as a bit of a sticky residue from age, and there is a bit of dog hair on the seats and carpeting from years ago. The gauges are nice aside from scratches on one of the bezels and there is a small crack on the heater / AC control panel plastic (both available on eBay). The seats are nice but also showing some age as shown. The radio is not original but we have an original radio (AM FM 8 Track as shown on the build sheet) that is included. We would also plan on replacing the carpeting. Also note that the exterior panels and color appear to be original. We could not detect any accidents. Please see the photos to have a better gauge of vehicle condition. It does look as good in person as it does in the photos. This car has the original owner's manual, warranty plate, other papers and even the original build sheet. It was shipped to a local dealer and sold new locally. It has had 1-2 owners since new. It has A/C (not working but all there), light group, cloth interior, as well as several other options as shown on the build sheet. We were pleasantly surprised when looking at the floorboards, sub frame and other normal trouble spots as this is a very clean example with little under body rust. The only holes we could find are the driver's side rear floor pan in one area. As you can see, it is a super clean example. As far as the body, there are bubbles starting to show and the car was repainted once years ago. The car runs and drives extremely well for the age and was a pleasure to drive for the auction videos. We were impressed with the cosmetic and mechanical condition considering that the car is approaching 40 years old. These Camaro Z28s are truly an American icon. Additional auction information: This vehicle is sold as-is. We cannot warranty any parts and as with any vintage vehicle, they are always a project in some way. Please note this before bidding if you are looking for a vehicle that will operate like a new vehicle. Collector cars are many times tempermental and reliability can be a factor on some. We also did not test each accessory or feature, and only drove the vehicle for a short distance. Any of these should be trailered to their destination until the vehicle is checked over for safety (tires, etc). The title is free and clear, and we are also requiring a bill of sale be signed by the new owner stating this car is being purchased as-is. It is a very straight original car as you can see in the photos. It gets a ton of attention and would make a great addition to your classic car collection.
