Vehicle Detail
1959 Chevrolet El Camino Factory V-8 with 3 speed Turbo Hydramatic Transmission This 1959 El Camino is a three owner truck. Originally built in California. It is an original H code V8 truck that has a blue paint code. The motor is a later (60's, 70's small block) It would be a great candidate for a quality restoration. It is very complete and mostly original. All stainless , chrome and aluminum trim is present and very nice condition. None of the stainless trim has extra holes in it that is so common with tonneau covers. The trim has very minor flaws that could easily be polished out. Grill is near perfect. Most all electrical functions as it should including dash lights, exterior lights, (turn , headlights, wipers, dome ,radio and charging system etc.) Engine runs decent and transmission shifts as it should. The El Camino has new brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, carb rebuild, alternator, radiator, battery and newer radial tires. Original hubcaps are excellent. Interior is in vey nice condition and thought to be mostly original that had been covered for many years. Body and bed area is very solid. Bed has a few pits and only a couple very minor dings in one wheel well. The pans behind the seat were replaced at some point. Paint is very old and shows signs of scratches, wear and lots of patina. Headlights, taillight lenses, side mirrors, door handles, tailgate hinges / mechanisms and fender rockets are in very nice shape also. Truck has some maintenance records and the original owners manual. The following are areas that would need repair if restoring : Rear wheel wells have the typical rust showing through paint. Windshield and passenger side window have cracks. 1/4" hole in headliner. Valve guides I think need replacing as it smokes for about 5 minutes after setting for longer periods. Ignition switch can be temperamental at times (requires wiggling sometimes) Heater core has leak and has been bypassed. Shipping is up to the owner but I will assist in anyway possible. Good luck
