Vehicle Detail
A very solid 912 that starts, runs and drives great. The pans have already been redone. This is a very early Porsche-built 912, the 30th car assembled for the 1966 model year, according to www.912registry.org . It is such an early car that someone had titled it long ago as a 1965, the year it was built. The clear Ohio title still lists it as a 1965 today. The engine, that I assume is original, is #831334. The odometer shows 26,300 miles. This is a well traveled car, rest assured that the miles traveled are more than shown. The title states that the mileage is beyond the mechanical limits of the odometer. The car is a 20.......OK!, perhaps a 120 footer. Some body repair at the rear half of the car was not done by devoted European craftsman! The fit and finish is way off the mark, the black paint (over original green????) does shine well enough to help hide the imperfections which number in the hundreds! But, overall it looks pleasing when it is shined up, sitting on real Fuchs rims. The interior is sparse (carpet was only for 911s!) and a bit tattered but functional and comfortable. I've owned and driven the car for a few years and it is a joy to drive. Around town, country roads, interstates, etc., the car does it all. The synchronizers for first gear are worn a bit so I tend to baby or not bother with downshifts to first gear unless I'm going very slow or stopped. When going slow or when stopped it goes into first without complaint. I would keep driving it for another 25 years like this, I just want to provide you with full disclosure. The motor oozes a bit of oil and uses very little also. I don't carry oil with me, I just top it off a couple times a year. I park over pans in the garage; they probably have half a pint of oil in them from the last couple of years. The cable operated heater boxes are corroded open. I simply pop the tubes off and on at the changing of the seasons. Enough heat comes out to take the edge off brisk days but I wouldn't drive it to Antarctica! This is a great car to enjoy, fix up more, restore, leave be, .....really, do whatever you want with. I think it really stands out as a car that can be enjoyed right now, right this second! There is nothing that keeps me from hopping in the car right this second and going cruising for the day. I've really enjoyed the car and would love to pass it on to others to use and enjoy. I have another 912 that I will be enjoying soon and it would be a shame for this one to just sit. It is a Porsche to be used and enjoyed not fussed at and worried over.
