Vehicle Detail

Last of the Classic Impalas Car is being re-listed, as the prior auction winner bought another vehicle This is a late production Impala SS, built in early December 1996. I purchased it late the same month. Equipped with the Impala SS Preferred Equipment Group (power passenger seat, automatic day/night rear view mirror, illuminated RH visor mirror, Twilight Sentinel), and the AM/FM/CD stereo. Every time you walk up toward your Impala, you will appreciate the balanced proportions and presence of this automobile. Hunkered down on its low-profile tires, this SS means business, without that "angry appliance" look so many cars have today. Click here for more detailed pictures: IMPALA Strong Points One-owner vehicle, has always been garaged in the southeastern U.S.Low mileage for the vintage: 159,286 miles at time of listing, less than 9,000 miles per year.Never been wrecked.Better than average paint condition for the miles. There are of course the usual nicks and scratches that come from being on the road. The main ones are detailed in the additional pictures as linked above.Very good interior. Windows were tinted and a dash cover installed right after purchase. Back seat barely used!Strong and smooth engine. GM rebuilt transmission installed 2011. No smoke, leaks, or unusual noises. Many of the "usual" Impala issues (odometer going out, window rollers) have been addressed.Things to NoteThe "Check Engine" light has been on, and I believe the bulb has since burned out. You should assume some service will be required to pass emissions in your state. As recommended by the Chevy dealer service department, I use 20W/50 weight oil to maintain better oil pressure at idle. Otherwise the oil pressure light can flicker a bit when idling in Drive. I would rather use a heavier oil than have someone open up the engine for a borderline condition. The right front door skin was replaced and painted after someone punched the lock in a theft attempt. The dealer did a good match, but you can in certain lighting conditions tell the difference. There is a split in the driver's seat back, near your left hip as you sit behind the wheel. This is common with these cars, and nowhere near as bad as a lot of Impalas you see listed.Tires will be due for replacement before long. The passenger power seat works, but the switch requires extra pressure to activate it.SummaryThis is a very solid, original, one-owner Impala. If you have been searching for a 94-96 SS, then you have seen some cars have almost no mileage, and are priced accordingly. (Actually, a car that has sat unused for almost 20 years is a very mixed bag if you intend to drive it.) A lot of the other cars have been passed among several owners, have been modified, or generally have had rough lives. This car is in the "sweet spot" in terms of condition and affordability.I have done my best to describe the car accurately. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or to arrange an inspection. This vehicle is being sold as-is, where is. There is no warranty expressed or implied.Payment TermsCertified / Cashier's check drawn on a United States bank.Personal Check drawn on a United States bank. On Sep-17-14 at 11:02:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Sept 17: Took the car to my mechanic for a final going-over before I release the car to a buyer. He noticed some play in the front end, and recommended replacing the idler arm and the center link (drag link). With that done, the Impala feels nice and tight, as it did when new.
