Special Note: This motorcycle is being relisted. The original auction ended on 9/28/14 and it sold for $2,717.00. The winning buyer failed to pay the deposit within 48 hours and failed to pay the purchase price within 7 days. After numerous emails to the buyer there has been no response. I feel sure there has been something very serious that has happened to prevent the buyer from responding and I now have no choice but to list this motorcycle again. This will be a short auction so if you are seriously interested please get on board. Good luck and happy bidding. This auction is for a vintage 1972 Suzuki GT550 with 18,339 actual miles. I purchased the motorcycle at an estate auction here in Oklahoma. It was owned by a gentleman who had purchased the bike in Santa Ana, CA in 1974 when he lived there. He moved to McAlester, OK in 1984 and brought the bike with him at that time. I understand that he continued to ride it up until 4 or 5 years ago and due to his health the bike had been stored in a garage up until the day of the auction last month. When I purchased the motorcycle at the auction it wasn't running and it was equipped with a windjammer faring, saddle bags, roll bar, and sissy bar. I wanted to bring the bike back to it's original condition. I removed all the extras and started to work. I had to removed the gas tank which was filled with what was left of a tank of evaporated gas. The pet cock was leaking and didn't function properly. Two of the three carbs were frozen up, one in the open position and one in the closed position. After removing the faring I discovered that the headlight from the faring wouldn't fit the original headlight bucket. I replaced the headlight with a new after market chrome headlight which looks great. After removing the saddle bags, I had to purchase two new rear turn signals due to the existing turn signals being park of the saddle bags. After the gas tank and carbs, I installed a new bullet air cleaner on each carb to make the carbs easier to get to for adjustments. I purchased a used pet cock from a seller on ebay which is working great. I adjusted all three carbs and set the oil injection pump to the manufactures recommend setting. I purchased and installed a new battery and took the bike for a 15 mile test ride and everything is working great. The idle is set at about 1500 rpm and there is no hesitation on the throttle. This bike is in great shape for the year, the chrome is in excellent condition but still need some cleaning on the wheels and exhaust pipes. You can see where I removed some of the dust accumulation from the front and back wheel so you can better see the actual condition of the chrome. I will include the original air cleaner, headlight bucket, and repair manuals with this motorcycle. The original tool pouch is in the tool compartment. This motorcycle is for local pickup or shipping to be arranged by the buyer. I've seen GT550's which were not in as good a condition as this one selling for quite a bit more than I'm asking. Everything works on this motorcycle, headlight, horn, turn signals, brake light, speedometer, and tach. This bike is ready to ride. Thanks for looking and good luck with your bidding. There is no reserve on this auction.
