Vehicle Detail

This is a 2000 BMW R1100RT with only 20,323 original miles and they're normally good for at least 100K. The BMW belonged to my friend's father who no longer rides on account of his own age, especially a bike this large. He was the second owner but it sat in his garage the past couple of years. The bike was sold new at Otto's BMW in West Chester, PA It comes with all documentation, books and papers since new, including it's original invoice (sold new for %16,401.50), most service and maintenance records. The color is called Graphite. Records evidence regular service at the BMW dealer. It comes with several sets of keys including the bags. The bike is clean, stock, runs very well and appears in very good condition save for some usual small blemishes or minor scratches commensurate with the age of the bike. The battery is new (Yuasa) and the oil was recently changed. I would not hesitate to drive this bike on a long distance tour. I've been putting around here locally. There is an ABS fault code, which means the ABS indicator blinks. This is not the case of a low battery voltage which is typical. The ABS code here indicates a fault in the ABS pump/module, which means the ABS unit is not functioning. This is a common issue too. Confirmed by the BMW dealer (and written clearly in the owner's manual), the brake system itself will continue function normally. Only the ABS is affected. Many riders drive this way. That said, Modulemaster.com can rebuild the ABS module for $250-$350 with a five year warranty or you can take your chances with a used unit on ebay. Changing the unit is not hard, there is even a youtube video for it. The opening bid or price of this bike is set well below wholesale book. Depending on which book you use, average retail is $4425, (black book), clean trade in at $3325 and rough (wholesale) trade in is $2740 (NADA April edition). I am not a dealer, I am a motorcycle hobbyist. I mostly collect bikes for my own use and this was not one I intended to keep. So its for sale and I set the opening bid at $2000. This will sell to the highest bidder or I will just fix it and ride it. Seller reserves the right to end the auction or sell outright locally.
