Vehicle Detail
Hello all, up for auction is a 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am L78 optioned 400 4 speed car, numbers matching from carburetor to rear end, this is the car everyone wanted as a kid. This car was fairly high optioned when it left the factory showroom with air conditioning, t-tops, deluxe interior group, the rare WS6 "special performance package" which consisted of the aluminum wheels (which are in absolutely immaculate condition), power brakes including rear disc option, and special handling package, limited slip differential, power windows, rally gauge option with tach, soft ray glass, complete lamp package, and even the tilt formula steering wheel.Currently, the car is rolling on a set of original WS6 snowflake trans-am wheels which just recently underwent a complete restoration as seen in the pictures, wrapped in a set of super rare original 1979 Goodyear Polysteel radials. The car was found in a barn in Georgia in 2009, after being parked in 1988. Currently the car does not run, but does turn over freely by hand, and with my experience in working with these cars (you can see the other Trans ams I have sold in the last few months on my ebay page) all it would take to get this car running would be a carb rebuild, a fresh battery, oil change, and fresh gasoline. This Trans Am is well documented, and includes what was left of the rear seat build sheet (car was purchased at Lou Fusz motor company in St.Louis, Missouri, and a full Pontiac Historical Society package which includes reproduction laminated window sticker, build sheets, and dealership paperwork. All floors in the car seem to be in good shape and rust free, as is the entire trunk area and the rear window/trunk seal area which commonly rot on these cars. The car will need a few patches on the quarter, along with a few small spots on the lower doors, and a section of passenger front fender. With just a few issues, overall this car is very solid, and most importantly, is a complete car with everything there, making this the perfect starting point for a restoration. Please feel free to contact with any questions you may have, along with additional pictures, thank you.
