I am selling my 1966 impala wagon. Like so many other guys do, I bought this car intending to fix it up, but found that I simply don't have the time to do so. This is a pretty rare car, you don't see too many of these that are in driveable condition. I drove it a lot the first year of owning, including a few three-hour trips in 100 degrees with the A/C running the whole time. Never had a problem. It is very mechanically sound. I haven't driven it a lot in the last year or so, but I make sure I fire it up and drive it to town at least once every month or so. It sits in a garage when I'm not driving it.DESCRIPTION: 283 Engine with edelbrock intake and carb, 700 R4 Transmission, Factory Air that works, 2 bench seats (does not have 3rd seat in rear, it has storage in the floor with a flip up lid).THE GOOD: Engine runs strong, fires up every time, good power, cruises great. Runs cool, even with A/C on max700 R4 Tranny shifts good, never given me any problemsHas all new steering linkage, tie rods/etc..., tires are still pretty good, all the lights work, (except interior light), new motor mounts, newer alternator, belts, hoses, filters, oil filter adaptor to fit modern oil filterBody is in pretty good shape, very straight, but not perfect, floor pans look good from the bottom, but never had the carpet out, so don't know for sure. Fenders are in good shape, quarter panels and rockers need a little work, hood and doors in good shape. Electric Rear Window works. Included in sale is a bunch of spare parts including: Complete dash(the plastic part with guages), steering wheel, various other interior parts, various light lenses, all the chrome for the car, the luggage rack that came off the car, and some other misc. stuff. THE BAD: Needs a new windshieldThere is an electrial drain somewhere, I just unhook the negative terminal on battery when I won't be driving for a while. The battery will drain over a week or so if you leave it hooked up.I never got the front end aligned after installing new steering linkage parts and it does wear the front tires uneven because of this. I was going to install a floor shifter that runs on a cable because with the 700 r4 tranny the linkage isn't right on the column shifter so it won't go down into 1st and 2nd right. It does shift into reverse and overdrive good, and all the gears in the tranny shift great. There's only a problem with the column shifter getting the tranny linkage into the lower two gears. I also installed a torque converter lock up switch because this car lacks the electronics to make that happen. There's a manual switch mounted on the dash. Interior is all there and not in horrible shape, but seats need recovered and headliner needs some work, door panels are there but not perfect either. The rubber seals are pretty good, but not perfect. This is a great project car, and pretty rare. I hope someone with more time and ambition can finish this great wagon.
