Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1990 Jeep Wranger YJ. The actual mileage is unknown as nearly everything is rebuilt or brand new in 2009 and has less than 1600 miles on it. It has spent most of its rejuvenated life stored and only sees a few weekends of use each year. This Jeep was rebuilt from the frame up in 2009 and modified from stock heavily. This isnt you're everyday YJ that someone slapped big tires on. This was built for durability and to last. It was built to be a toy that could be driven hard and not worry about breaking items on the trail. It never saw the rigorous trails it was built for but was still a lot of fun to just cruise on the two tracks and also blaze out own trails and in and hit a few mud holes. It never disappointed and never had a single problem. The list of work done is extensive and was completed with the utmost care and attention to detail. The following will lightly detail the work that was done. Frame and Suspension; Complete undercarriage was stripped and sandblasted All framework and skid plates were repainted using Chassis-Saver paint which stops any rust and is extremely durable. Comparable to powdercoat in strength SOA Lift (Spring Over Axle) which involves putting the leaf spring perches on the top of the springs rather than saddling the bottom. This added 6.5" of lift. 8.8" Ford Rear end with 4.10 gears, limited slip and disc brakes. This was removed from a 2000 Ford Explorer. Width is correct for a Jeep YJ. Strength rating for a Ford 8.8" is between a Dana 44 and a Ford 9" while keeping parts cheaper and readily available 4" Lift springs front and rear New shocks front and rear Fabricated extended bump stops front and rear Boomerang shackles front and rear. These add flex and 1/2" of lift and are easier to service and greasable. Trussed rear end brace with anti-spring wrap link. Ladder bars were avoided as they severely restrict articulation. Stock front Dana 30 High-steer drag link and knuckles. Fitted with 4" drop pitman arm as well. Dana 30 is fitted with a "posi-lock" manual lock cable. This enables the driver to lock the axle from inside the cabin manually when necessary, the Dana 30 is not normally lockable. Fabricated front and rear bumpers. Both bumpers are extremely heavy duty, heavy wall square tube and double as air tanks. Each bumper has side access quick-disconnect fittings and are plumbed for an on-board-air compressor system Front bumper is fitted with a WARN 8000 winch and heavy clevis' mounts. Winch has never been used (it never got stuck!) Rear bumper houses a fabricated spare tire carrier that swings away to open the rear gate. Tires are 37" TSL Boggers. They are nearly brand new and have seen very very little concrete exposure. Has full skid plate under engine, trans, transfer case. Brake lines and fuel lines were placed as to avoid exposure to debris from trails/rocks All new bushings/tie-rods. Sway bar end links feature a quick-disconnect design to allow easy trail disconnect for added articulation on trails. All wheel bearings were checked for wear and either repacked (rears) or replaced (fronts) Body The body was completely stripped, reworked and repainted. All rust spots and potential problem areas were cut out, patch panels made or ordered and welded in. Body was then repainted with a heavy duty enamel (similar to what is used on dump trucks and construction equipment). This paint is hard and does not scratch easily but still looks very good. The body is completely rust-free. The interior was coated with a rhino-liner like coating and coated with the enamel as well. This gives the floor a rougher texture but looks and feels completely professional. Has stock seats, repainted roll bars, refinished dash and aftermarket stereo (Alpine head unit). Has a floor shifter from B&M. Powertrain/Drivetrain Original engine was removed and swapped for a Chevrolet 4.3L Vortec from a 93 S10. The engine was completely rebuilt, bored .030+ , fitted with heads from a 2000' 4.3 (higher flow, roller rockers, adds 40+hp over pre-96' heads), Edelbrock headers, high flow oil pump and Edelbrock 2114 intake. True duals with Flow Master mufflers exit at the rear Transmission is a freshly professionally rebuilt 700r4 with shift kit installed and an additional clutch pack (as were fitted to V8 engines). Transfer case is rebuilt NP231J/C. It is the front half of a NP231C-HD and the rear half of a NP231J (J-Jeep, C-Chevrolet). The NP231C were the "HD" case and had heavier chains and 6 planetary gears, the NP231J only had 3 planetary gears, making them weaker and prone to detonating. This case has 6 planetary gears, the heavy duty, wider chain, correct ports for the Jeep wiring/speedo and it fitted with an SYE. 4x4 indicator lights are fitted in the cabin as well. 4x4 is floor shift, not push button. SYE - Slip-yoke-eliminator. This adapter removes the slip yoke and shortens the total length of the transfer case. This allows a U-joint fitting to be bolted to each end of the driveshaft, crucial in lifted Jeeps due to the steep driveshaft angle Driveshaft is a double-cardan center slip design. It is professionally built and rated to 400+ HP. 2" of body lift was added to clear the transmission bellhousing. Electric fan housing that is independant of the ignition. Meaning it doesn't shut off until the engine coolant is below the thermostat rating, regardless of the key position. There is a switch to turn it off in the cabin if preferred. A York air conditioning compressor is mounted and awaiting completion as an on-board-air compressor. It is from a 1969 Ford and the York design has its own oil supply and is capable of running air tools off the serpentine belt drive. It is ready to be plumbed to the front and rear bumper tanks but simply needs a regulator setup. Has a magnetic clutch installed as well. Total lift over stock is 11" via suspension, 2" via body lift and 4" from addition tire size (and added ground clearance). This adds up to a door sill height of 17" above stock. This is a great Jeep and you will not find a nicer 90'. As everything is nearly new it is hard to call it a "90'" but thats what the title says. Again, all work done was completed with care and not a hack job. Please view the extensive pics and if you have any questions at all please feel free to ask. I have 100's of pictures documenting the build and if you would like to see them I will be glad to send them. Jeep is for sale locally so auction will end if sold locally And again if anyone would like to see any other pictures I would be happy to send them I also have a convertible top frame that goes with the jeep , not sure I have 100% of the pieces Thanks for looking
