Vehicle Detail
99 Land Rover Discovery I SD7 98K miles!!! Introduction: This is a great truck! It comes to me from a client who recently got into an 04 Discovery and I was more than happy to take this off his hands. It has low miles, was impeccably cared for and will no doubt make its next owner very happy. I have since put it through my own eBay signature service regimen to ensure a seamless and enjoyable new ownership experience. Service and Reliability: As a Land Rover technician whose passion for the marquee inspires my dedication, I always use the best genuine parts and expert skill with their fitment. As I mentioned, this truck was judiciously serviced, and the following is an extensive list of critical service points which should make anyone happy. Complete 3 angle valve job and head gasket service including: cooling system fluid flush and renewal, head gasket renewal, head stretch bolt renewal, intake resealed, valve covers resealed, exhaust system resealed, engine oil and filter renewed.30K mile interval service including: genuine spark plugs, New STI spark plug wires, New air element, New Belt, Differential fluids renewed, swivel service, transfer case fluid renewed, transmission fluid renewed, fuel filter renewed, all safety components inspected and adjusted to factory spec.Brand new factory recore on the radiatorBrand new factory thermostatBrand new factory EGR hoses installed. Styling and Options: If you’ve been looking for a great 99 D1 then you know that they are the crowning achievement of the Discovery 1 line – all the utility – and all the upgrades. This particular truck is clean on the inside and the outside, and if you’ve scanned ahead, then the pictures no doubt say it better. The brand new Pioneer audio system gives hi-powered concert sound even with the windows down, bombing it on the freeway at 85mph! This truck is a 7 seater – with rear jump seats being in the ideal configuration: it’s a non rear air truck, which means you lose absolutely no cargo space while optimizing passenger room when the seats are in use. The Java Black paint polishes up smooth to the touch and the seating surfaces inside are clean and soft and resemble the kind of comfort-wear you would associate with your favorite baseball glove! Like most Californian’s that have spent their life in the sun, its got its share of cosmetic blemishes typical for the color. There is minor oxidation on the forerunner of the roof and a small hand-size area on the hood. Any other blemishes are of the normal parking lot variety ding, but there is nothing, in my opinion that takes away from the overall look of the truck. My favorite thing about the truck… call me corny… but the tire cover is something of a collectors item. It is the original factory cover, offered in 99 only… they make reproductions of it now, yes… but only in soft vynal. This is the original, solid cover, which will never peel fade or crack. And the image just about says it all…. Where Land Rovers came from, what they were meant to do, and what the 99 Disco represents in that lineage. Performance and Operation: This truck fires right up and ride quality is excellent. Punch the gas and the throaty rumble from the V8 lets you know that this thing has a lot of guts. The transmission shifts perfectly smooth and there is no whine from the transfercase or gearbox. Steering is excellent made in part by the Old Man Emu suspension system that’s been installed. Yes, its of the NEW generation of OME Nitro’s… not some backyard install of an old used set. She corners great and there are no shimmies, shakes or wanderings on the freeway at all. I have been commuting with it recently to sort out any lingering powertrain quirks and I’ve gotta say, this truck kicks ass. Auto door locks/handles all work – with the exception of the passenger rear lock actuator. It has intermittent operation but doesn’t affect your ability to open and close or manually lock the door. All the windows go up and down without any clunking or grinding. The sunroofs both work and don’t leak; but they are temperamental. The rear sunroof goes up and down perfectly, but not back or forward and the front unit opens up, down, slides back, and front, about 50% of the time. Safety features such as the horn, blinkers, lights, MFCU switches all work perfectly well. The AC and Heat also work great – the fan speed switch needing an extra jiggle from time to time. Purchasing, Perspective & Why Buy From Me: No one puts a Land Rover together better than me, PERIOD. It’s the vehicle I drive, and the vehicle I RACE. Nearly two decades of Rover ownership and service are poured into every Rover that I see into new hands. All too common are sales from the brokerage houses where a vehicle will receive a detail service and nothing else. Leaving maintenance work for the pleasure of the new owner; often time’s immediately following reception of the vehicle. Beware of any vintage Rover that does not share the same service points as the ones I advertise with my trucks. They are ESSENTIAL for long term reliability and any Classic Rover without these services are ticking time bombs. I am not a Land Rover tech that drives home in a Honda Civic. I come from a long line of British Car technicians and Live, Breathe and even RACE the green oval. I understand ALL of your concerns and needs and do my best to ensure that you will be happy based on a simple, yet powerful concept: DOES THIS VEHICLE MAKE ME HAPPY? WOULD I PUT MY WIFE AND BABY IN IT? WOULD I LOVE TO HAVE IT? The answer is always yes. And that’s when I know they are ready. I care. I know you do, too. Vehicles that I see off not only have domestic endpoints, they go to the farthest reaches of the planet. They have gone to Europe, Asia, The South Pacific, Central America and currently, a client recently purchased a trail-ready 88 RRC and is en route to Tierra Del Fuego after I picked him up in the vehicle at LAX when he flew in to receive it! The point here is, I believe in each and every vehicle that I usher in to new ownership. Please see my recent vehicle sales and I’m sure you’ll be impressed. I have A LOT of copy-cats out there. If you aren’t buying one from me… its, well, NOT from me even though other sellers go so far as to “cut-n-paste” my listings!!! While these vehicles are all totally looked after, they are not immune to future service needs and flaws. They are used vehicles and normal flaws and wear should be expected as the vast majority of them are pushing 20+ years old. As I have said, my wife has driven this truck faithfully with no operational complaints but I invite you to ask ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS NOW! There are no queries too obscure; your satisfaction is the goal here. Additionally, eBay offers a 3rd party inspection service to verify ALL of your acquisition needs IN PERSON. Purchase of the vehicle = SATISFACTION. Once this auction is over, the winning bid and purchase imply that satisfaction has been achieved and will be understood as such. There are no warranties offered here, but that said, there is always an unspoken “hand-shake” warranty meaning that should something fail within a reasonable amount of time – say a hose, a coilpack, a distributor, blower motors, an alternator, a switch, etc – I will be happy to send you what I have available at that time. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION so you are bidding to win! Please make sure that you bid ONLY what you are prepared to pay. This means, when the auction is over, and the winning bid is placed, this becomes THE SALE PRICE of the vehicle. Under no circumstances does it open the door to negotiate or back out of your commitment. The people bidding for this vehicle actually want it. Do not spoil their chances at ownership by arm-chair bidding. Yes, everyone joins eBay at some point, and there is no prejudice against lower transaction numbers here – HOWEVER – if I suspect and/or become aware of any insincerity on the part of said bidder, I reserve the right to cancel all bids from and block that insincere bidder from this auction. Completion of this transaction is fairly straight forward. Once the auction is over, I will be contacting the winner immediately and we can discuss the easiest way to finalize the transition. Who is this truck for: Honestly, for anyone wanting a reliable D1! It would make a great 1st car, commuter, work truck, build platform, guest vehicle, etc. That said, I have a feeling this thing will go to someone looking to build it. Its half way there already with the awesome OME suspension fitted. All the critical service has been done, its got awesome tires on it, It’s a 7 seater, it’s a great color combo, and all said and done, while nice looking, she’s not a museum piece Rover. Which means, you won’t be afraid to get it dirty, or cry if someone opens a car door into it. It’s the ideal candidate for someone who is looking to have a truck to just get out there and have a blast with. With summer almost over and fall just around the corner, there is plenty of time yet for adventure. This truck is DEFFINATELY up to the task! Thanks for the interest and happy Rovering!
