We are selling our family car... aka 2001 Volvo XC wagon that has developed some coolant issues. The car was purchased from a family member who took good care of it, but recently we have had a new transmission installed, new tires, a rear brake wheel bearing, radiator, timing belt with tensioner/ pulleys, and the water pump. The car has almost all of the records for the past few years including the repairs done under warranty. It recently had a low coolant light come on that spurred us to replace the radiator (it had a crack/leak) and while it was being repaired the water pump and timing set was replaced. The mechanic states that the coolant system still has a leak and that it could be a gasket, a coolant system component, or one of any other issue that could cause the car to run hot if it is driven in its current condition. There is some coolant in the floor board and that would lead us to believe it is a ruptured heater core due to the location of the leaking coolant. Regardless the car needs a new family and we are getting a different vehicle as soon as we can sell this one. The car is available for viewing in North Charlotte/ Huntersville area of North Carolina. The car should not be driven as the coolant system is leaking and the car could overheat. The car runs and drives and was doing so up to being dropped off at the mechanics shop (that determined there was another coolant system leak). Otherwise the car has been used for our family trips, groceries, and hauling stuff/ kids around. It is in need of a good cleaning and some washing and waxing, but once the heater core is fixed it would be a great first car (it is a super safe VOLVO), a family wagon, or a different approach to taking the family rally racing!!!!
