Vehicle Detail
The car runs great and is super quick. I have driven it back and forth to work and around town some. My wife does not like it is too small and makes her feel claustrophobic and it has no back seats so the kids really cannot ride, so I am putting it up for sale. I will give you a full breakdown on the car. It has had a lot of work done to it as the previous owner was going to turn it in to an Autocross racer. These are the best years as they are the lightest bodies and this one has the 140HP 1.8 in it instead of the 114Hp 1.6. Engine: The engine has been converted from the factory 1.6 to a 1.8 out of a 1999 Miata. This was done at 167,000 miles and the car now has 185,000 miles on it. I have a log book showing everything that was changed over and most of the receipts from this process. The engine runs great with no odd noises or leaks. It is very quick. The car was not driven very much over the last couple of years so I went ahead and changed the plugs with NGK V Power and NGK plug wires. The ISC needs to be cleaned or changed because when you turn the air on, which blows ice cold, it idles about 3-400 RPM's . With the A/C off it idles at 900 RPM's just like it should. What I have done to counter act this is to increase the idle RPM's to about 1300 which allows it to idle at about 750 RPM's with the air on. When the engine was replaced the heads were rebuilt and new rings were installed. I do have the receipts for this work. It is a Flyin Miata full exhaust on it which really makes it sound great. I just installed a new battery and terminal ends. The engine does not smoke or leak any fluids. It is really quick and responsive. Transmission: It is a 5 speed transmission in the car that shifts through all the gears as it should. I am not sure if it is original or has been rebuilt. There is no grinding any gears or odd noises. The clutch was replaced at the same time as the engine swap so it only has about 22,000 miles on the car. It feels really smooth when shifting and very responsive. Suspension: This is why I bought the car. It has a Tein Coilover Suspension. This is fully adjustable and was $1350 for just the parts not including the labor. This allows the car corner very nicely. It has 16" wheels with Toyo tires on it that really helps it stick in the curves. The suspension is fully adjustable for the ride that you are looking for. Body: The body is in fair to good shape. There are no major dents on the car, just some minor scratches and dents as can be expected from a 21 year old car. It was repainted at some point but needs a good buffing as it is dull right now. The top is in fair to good shape. it was replaced in 2008, I have the receipt. It has two slits in the rear window. There are also two 1/8" spots on each corner where the frame rubbed through slightly. This is easily fixed. There is a crack in the bumper that is shown in the pictures. There is no rust on the body of the car. Interior: The interior is in good condition for it's age. The seats are cloth and have no tears in them or holes. The dash is not all cracked up. All the lights work on the car as they are supposed to including the headlights. It has a Pioneer CD Player in it. It has an A-Pillar pod for two gauges on the A-Pillar but no gauges are installed. All gauges work except the oil pressure gauge. All electronics work as well to include lights, turn signals, etc. Carpet is in good shape with no worn spots or tears. It even still has the center console cover on it and it is in good shape. I have a lot of records and receipts showing the money that has been spent on this car since 2008. The previous owner was in the process of turning it into an Autocross racer and had intended to put a turbo on it. This is why he did the conversion and built it for the turbo. The car can be used as a daily driver or a racer. It still has working A/C and power steering, which in many cases are removed on the car. It does not have unwanted weight addition of power windows or locks. It is very basic. If you have any specific questions you can call or text 864-254-8572. This is a No Reserve auction.
