Vehicle Detail
For auction is a 1954 Chevrolet 1/2 ton 3100 5 window pickup that is very complete and original. This truck still has the original 6 volt charging system. I have owned a few of these trucks and this one has rust in all of the typical spots (cab corners, floor, fenders, etc.). This truck starts, drives, and stops. I have a clear Maryland Title for this truck in-hand. I have used this truck for the last two years to occasionally go to locals stores and take football/baseball equipment to and from my sons practices. Everyone enjoys seeing this truck as much I as enjoy driving it. However, I would not consider this a reliable means of transportation or a show truck. I have never taken this truck more 5 miles from home, driven it at night, or above 30mph because I understand that it needs work. This truck has a new carburetor, distributor, 6 volt battery, brake master cylinder, all 4 wheel cylinders/brake shoes/drums/springs, stainless steel brake lines, rubber brake lines, and fuel pump. The headlights, taillights, and brake lights all work. There are no areas that are a complete loss and cannot be saved with a few patch panels aside from the bed and rear fenders. The bed and rear fenders are functional as they are currently, but if you planned to restore this truck those parts would need to be totally replaced. The windshield had a few cracks and is de-laminated, the passengers side window is cracked, and the drivers side and rear windows are missing. However, the two rear corner windows are in nice shape. Both doors are in good shape and are original. The cab, hood, and front fenders are in nice restore-able condition. The interior of the truck is all intact and can be restored with readily available parts. The 235 6 cylinder engine runs smooth and quiet. The transmission is a 3 on the tree column shifted manual. The shift linkage could use new bushings and adjustment as it is sometimes hard to get into 1st and reverse. This is a common item on the column shifted transmissions and I have performed this service on a previous 54 that I had and it clears the shifting issues up. This truck had a flat black spray-bomb paint job when I got it, so I have kept that as the finish (it is easy to touch-up and you don't have to worry about scratching a $5k paint job). I have attempted to describe this vehicle as fully as possible. Please ask any questions before bidding. This truck is being sold as-is and where-is with no warranties expressed or implied.
