Vehicle Detail
The Last Edition comes with both the Dual Touring Saddle and the ¾ Solo Saddle. It is currently fitted with a custom Corbin seat mounted on the ¾ Solo Saddle base. The Corbin seat has a hairline scratch on top of the back and 2 spots of dried glue where I mounted my personal “butt pad”. See photos. The covers and upholstery on the original BMW saddles are in excellent condition…as new. The cowling at the back of the Touring saddle shows a very small amount of damage, in the form of a scuff and 2 cracks in the paint on the edge. It is hard to see. I have included a picture to show it the best I can. The BMW roundel on the Touring Saddle cowl is also dark and dull, as you can see. The BMW MotorSport roundel on the ¾ Solo Seat cowl is a beautiful Brass/Enamel Cloisonné medallion. Excellent Mechanical and Cosmetic (Some belt buckle scratches in the clear coat on Tank)..see photo. SS Braided Brake lines/ Complete Front Brake System overhaul at 61,000 miles, including Brake Master Cylinder and Caliper Seals. A New Clutch Plate was installed at 61,000 miles. Upgraded Diode Board at 61,200 mi. Head Pipes, Piston Rings, Valves & Guides Replaced at 62,300 miles. The bike holds a Current NC Safety Inspection. All panels and fairing bits are original with the exception of the right side upper fairing. The bike fell over at a dead standstill in my garage, after I neglected to be sure of the sidestand position. It was cushioned nicely by 2 more of my favorite machines, but the right side mirror trashed out the fairing. It is repairable, and is included in the sale, if you want it. I replaced it with a new panel and had The Wark Shop repaint all 3 upper pieces of the fairing with the proper Glasurite Pearl with Clearcoat. As you see, I decided not to add the pinstripe. There are small chips in the paint on both sides at the very edge of the fairing…see photos. Lower fairing pieces are in excellent condition, as well, but not currently mounted. This bike is in excellent condition and will not disappoint. It is absolutely beautiful. Everything works. It starts and runs perfectly. There are no leaks. I would not hesitate to take this bike cross-country. I purchased this motorcycle in 1989 and am the 2nd owner. It was originally sold in Knoxville, Tenn. I have maintained and kept it in an extremely meticulous manner from day one. It needs a new home and someone who can use and treasure it for the classic it is. Note that there is a huge amount of "stuff" that goes with this bike. You will need a truck or large car to load it all. ACCESSORIES INCLUDED IN SALE; 3 different windscreens: 2 are 15 ½” tall: 1 clear and 1 smoke tinted. The 3rd is a 21” smoke tinted Parabellum with a crack at one mounting hole. Currently fitted is 14 1/2" Touring Cases in Excellent Condition (2 small cracks, invisible, epoxyed on inside) See photos for one crack, the other is nearly invisible. Both are repaired to a stable condition. “Bungee Buddies” are installed on both cases. Full BMW Tank Cover in As New Condition with exception that the clear plastic map cover has turned dark. The tank on this bike did not see the light of day for the first 15 years, under this cover. BMW Tank Bag…needs minor repair. All pieces are here, including the rain cover. Never Installed ride off (Brown) side kickstand…the type that locks in place. Never Installed Passenger Seatback with Luggage Rack. Bar-Backs Installed under factory handlebars. The original Steering Damper is included. Fairing Lowers Included, but not mounted on bike now. I will mount them for you if you want. Original Passenger Footpegs included, but are not mounted. It was extremely rare that this bike carried a passenger. Old & Used Luftmeister Sport Mufflers. These were on the bike for ~about 40,000 mi. That is why the original mufflers are so perfect now. You can also have the original Headpipes. Haynes Workshop Manual. Official BMW Repair Manual. BMW Auxiliary Catalogue BMW R100-R100RT. "Bahnstormer: The Story of BMW Motorcycles" by L.J.K. Setright.
