Vehicle Detail

This CR125M was first bought by a father for his 15-year-old son, in suburb South of Seattle. There was an angry divorce pending, Mother disapproved, and put the bike up for sale. I came along having just bought a Honda MT125R Roadracer and was looking for a CR125 motor to modify and install to race in 100GP class. I checked out the bike, in near-NEW condition, as the kid had only been able to ride it a few times on some wooded trails a few blocks from home - maybe 3-hours total. I made a deal with Mom - I'd buy the bike, half-then and half later when she could obtain the Title from Dad. Never got it. Got a Bill of Sale signed by Mom there, back in 1977. I am selling the bike with Bill of Sale signed by me now. This CR is a prime example ready to be final-detailed into somebody's DISPLAY item. Replace the easy items - numberplate, engine/chain sidecover, and maybe the seatcover - polish up the details, and it will look like a brand-new example. EVERYTHING other than the plate, chain and c-sprocket is the ORIGINAL parts assy. The handlebar, grips, levers and cables are all the originals; the wheels, tires, tubes, and brakes are the originals (The AIR is the original air!) ; The tank, sidecovers, fenders, and seat are the originals; The engine is externally stock, with the original top-end parts modified internally. The carb, jets, and pipe are the originals - however, new sparkplug. The tank has some oxide-scaling internally and petcock is mostly clogged (gas dribbles thru) - A new owner will need to clean or replace petcock, and put in a foam air filter. Tank is beautiful externally - no dents, no distortions - but could stand an internal cleaning. I let the float bowl fill with gas-oil mixture, put new oil in the lower end and kicked it over. It started on THIRD kick (!) - after 36 years on the shelf. It has that loud, pleasant snarl of the '70s MX-ers, and I zapped around my yard snappily with good clutch and shifting...Great Bike!...Dunno if you want to beat it up in AHRMA racing. In this age of nice bikes in static display, I would recommend that. My local Honda dealer wanted to borrow it from me for display on his floor, but I've decided to sell it instead. BTW- I road-raced this motor only TWO Sundays - Once at Riverside Raceway (AFM) in CA. Two 8-lap heats; finished 4th out of 7. Once at Seattle Int'l Raceway (WMRRA). Two 6-lap heats; 1st out of 3 in class. I flew racebike/motor/Pit-Girl to Riverside in back of Cessna C182. We trophied that night, and trophied again the next night. Then motor went on shelf, and MT125R with its OEM roadrace motor I decided to sell, reluctantly - It went to some guy in Southern CA, who drive up to Seattle to get it from me. Gas was cheap back then.
