For Sale is my barn fresh 1949 Chevrolet 6100 Tow Truck. The truck was last registered in 1977 and has been sitting inside a cement floor garage since 1979. The truck is 100 % complete. I purchased it from an estate of a 90 year old gentleman. The intake manifold/ carburetor assembly was removed to replace intake manifold gasket. Job was not completed but I have all the items. The odometer shows 47,000 miles and since it is a Tow Truck with limited use, I'm pretty sure that's actual miles, especially after inspecting truck. Inside cab, glass etc. is in remarkable condition. There are rust areas on body (See pics) Also, both sides at rear are pulled out(?) (See pics) Most tires have excellent tread and very minimal cracking. They all hold air and turn freely. I BELIEVE the engine is a 217 cu. but could be larger in commercial vehicle of this time frame. Haven't researched it. I'm not sure if engine turns over since I have done nothing with the truck since I've purchased. I would suggest Marvel Mystery Oil in all cylinders and let set a few weeks before attempting to turn over. I thought this truck was very unique since you just don't see a lot of tow trucks from this time period. It also is equipped with drop down spuds.
