Vehicle Detail

1981 Jeep CJ5 LAREDO This Beautiful Jeep CJ5 original classic is ready to go. I love driving this around town, it gets a lot of comments from all types of people. I got it from one of my brothers medical colleagues who purchased it from his mother 12 years ago. He rarely drove it and it sat in a barn on his ranch in Western Colorado (dry dessert climate). He only drove it 2k miles over a 12 year span. In the last couple weeks I have driven it to Denver several times, to the mountains and around town. The Jeep starts right up, drives smooth and doesn't have any problems keeping up with traffic in town, on the highway or in the mountains. This is the perfect summer adventurer, summer cruiser or to drive to the mountains. Engine:258 4.2L 6cylinder motor that runs great, is very peppy and runs great. Has a fast idle at start up but goes down after the choke. Overall the motor runs great, I don't notice any significant leaks on the ground after driving it. But it does have the classic 6cylinder valve cover leak that will need to be replaced sometime. Transmission/Transfer Case:4spd T176 Manual Transmission that shifts great, no play in the transmission, no grinding or crunching. The Clutch is very tight, responsive and does not slip. The Dana 300 transfer case shifts easily in and out of 4x4. Drivetrain/suspension:The Jeep drives excellent and has that classic and original soft tight stock suspension. There aren't any loud clunks or noises, it is very smooth. The drivetrain and suspension are completely stock. The power steering is super sensitive and the brakes stop the jeep easily. Interior Controls/Switches:Everything in the interior works including the gauges, speedometer, odometer, wipers and blinkers. The horn, tach, cig lighter, and heater do not work(I will check the fuses) the radio powers up but there is no sound. The Tilt Steering makes it easier to get in and out. Paint/Body:The paint is Copper Brown Metallic with Laredo Striping. It is original paint that looks great and super reflective, shows a lot of luster and is shiny. The front drivers fender was replaced along with the windshield frame at one point. The front clip fenders have sand chips and the hood has several small ding/dents. Interior:The interior is beautiful, the nutmeg seats are in great condition along with the carpets. The original console includes a key. The seats are clean and only the drivers seat has seem separations. The top of the rear wheel well carpet is faded from the sun but overall the carpets are in excellent shape. The dash pad, seats, interior are all in great condition. The passenger visor is broken. Bestop Soft top and Doors:The nutmeg bestop soft top is in great condition with clear windows and no significant rips or tears. There looks to be a couple spots that were repaired but overall the top and doors are in excellent shape. All zippers work with ease and the top seals to prevent leakage in the elements. Tires/Wheels:This are the original 15x8 Chrome Jeep wagon wheels with Center Caps. The spare wheel does show some clear coat peeling in places however the other 4 do not. The spare tire looks to be original and is dry rotting on the side wall. The tires have a couple years life remaining on them, I'd say 60-70% left. Rust/Undercarriage:The only significant rust is under the driver seat belt by the roll bar and on the backside of the roll bar on both sides in the wheel well. There are a couple misc surface spots but overall the Jeep is clean and original. The undercarriage appears discolored and has surface rust but no significant issues (view photos). Overall:This is a beautiful and Rare CJ5 Laredo Jeep in Copper. It is ready to go and will make a great daily driver, weekend warrior, summer adventurer or an addition to your collection. The CJ5 is used and 33 years old, so it may have blemishes I didn't capture on my camera or missed. I do my best to illustrate the condition, I may have missed something so be sure to ask all questions you have prior to bidding or winning the Jeep. The Jeep is being sold as is, where is, without warranty or guarantees. I am not required for your state emission or safety inspections including Colorado.
