Vehicle Detail
Spectacular condition, extremely low mileage, last model year of the Diesel Suburban. High Resolution Photos and Videos: http://smu.gs/1l9I8dt If you don't know about the elusive GMC Diesel Suburban, here's a primer: Don't you wish you could have the perfect combination of huge cargo and people capacity, comfortable, massive torque, powerful freeway cruising, and good fuel economy? This is exclusively available in a Diesel Suburban. Only problem? Good luck finding one. Well, here's perhaps the cleanest, lowest-mileage diesel Suburban available anywhere. Seat 8 adults comfortably? Check. Room for lots of luggage? Check. Ability to tow 9000 pounds? Check. 525 ft-lbs of torque? Check. Up to 17 MPG Freeway? Check. Reliable and durable? Check. On sale is an awesome combination of and extremely rare vehicle (diesel engine + Suburban) but very commonly available parts, accessories and service availability. Here's why: Super unusual combination. Less than 1% of all Suburbans had the 6.5 diesel option. GMC made over 1.2Million 6.5 diesel engines, putting them in everything from Hummers to pickups and buses. In fact, they are still being used extensively in applications from power boats to trucks. Therefore, the drivetrain is really common, and this can be serviced at any GM/Chevy dealer. (although I commonly hear the refrain "Wow. I didn't know GM made Suburbans with a diesel!" GM also made hundreds of thousands of the Suburban models. However, they made extremely few of the 6.5 Diesel + Suburban Combo. These had to be custom ordered from the factory with the optional engine, which was a $6000 option that very few people ordered. This is the last year that GM ever made a diesel Suburban. Initially, the 6.5 diesel was not well-understood by the dealerships, and there were some teething problems (just Google 6.5 diesel PMD) that over-the-years have been completely solved, resulting in a rugged and reliable engine with excellent performance. Don't believe me? Check out popular owner forums like TheTruckStop.us and DieselPlace.com, where owners rave about the performance, longevity, and durability of this drivetrain. It has been absolutely flawless for our family, and we've owned it for many years! I have owned this rig for 10 years, and it has very low miles, 124,500. It has mostly been used for family road trips. WIth the SLT option package, it is fully equipped with every option available that year. Full leather (in excellent condition, even the front seats!), heated seats, rear air and heat, self-dimming mirrors, push-button 4x4 (works perfectly). Everything on the vehicle is in perfect running order. 3/4 ton model. Set up with trailer hitch and full RV wiring. (I was planning to buy an RV but we never did. I've never towed anything heavier than a 500 lb garden trailer with it). It has never been off-road. So here it is: This is unique in that not only is it super-rare, but it is a perfect vehicle from an ease-of-repair and maintenance. Suburbans are common. 6.5 diesel engines are common. 4L80 transmission are common. Therefore I've never had any trouble getting excellent parts and service on this vehicle. In fact, many vendors have websites exclusively dedicated to this drivetrain! (See places like LeroyDiesel.com, HeathDiesel.com, and others) It has superior fuel economy, getting up to 17+ MPG on the freeway. Try that with a similar vintage 454 gasser. Not happening. It has approximately 195HP and 525 ft-lb of torque. 195 hp (145 kW) @ 3,400 rpm / 525 lb·ft (712 N·m) @ 1,800 rpm (turbocharged) The rig is almost completely stock, but I have added items that increase safety and reliability: * Hellwig sway bars front and rear dramatically improve handling on-road. * Flowmaster Downpipe (improves exhaust flow) * New remote Fuel-Solenoid-Driver (FSD) with custom cable harness and FSD cooler mounted under front bumper. (Eliminates a common problem on this engine) * PowerSlot Brake Rotors (Improved braking) * Lund front shade (I put in all stainless hardware) * Lund front and rear air deflectors This is a perfect vehicle for someone looking for a safe, reliable, rugged SUV with really large cargo and people capacity and very reasonable fuel economy to boot. I am only selling it because my kids are off to college and we aren't taking road trips like we used to. * I have kept it waxed and in a heated garage the whole time I have owned it. The paint is is very good condition, and to my knowledge it is original. Upholstery and leather are in excellent condition. See the photos. * There are no leaks on the vehicle. * It does not require any reconditioning. * No rust on the vehicle. * Everything works. * Condition of leather is really remarkably excellent. * Wheels are like-new * The previous owner told me that CarFax shows an accident, but when he investigated it, it wasn't an accident but a breakdown... he told me that the vehicle lost a coolant line on the automatic transmission while on the road and this caused the vehicle to lose all it's transmission fluid, causing the vehicle to breakdown on the road, but that the report shows it as 'an accident', since they didn't have any way to indicate a single-car breakdown. This is all the information I have. When I checked with the GMC dealer, they ran a VIN report which showed that the factory had indeed authorized a new replacement transmission during that timeframe, so this seems to correlate what I had been told. * Nothing has been removed or disabled * Non-smoker owned. No pets. * Never been off-road to my knowledge. * Never been used to tow anything heavier than a small garden trailer. This is all the information I have. When I checked with the GMC dealer, they ran a VIN report which showed that the factory had indeed authorized a new replacement transmission during that timeframe, so this seems to correlate what I had been told. To be clear, the records show that the factory authorized and installed a brand-new transmission under warrantee. * Nothing has been removed or disabled * Non-smoker owned. No pets. * Never been off-road to my knowledge. * Never been used to tow anything heavier than a small garden trailer. On May-24-14 at 15:10:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Dear miraclecardoctor1,Thank you for the questions. * The biggest thing I towed was a small trailer-mounted power generator and a garden tractor. I think it was probably about 500-700 pounds... I can't speak to previous owners, but I've had it for 10 years, so in that time, that's it. I just noticed, I have a TYPO in my ad. The factory rated towing capacity is 8000 pounds, not 9000. I am sorry for the typo. * There are absolutely no leaks that I am aware of. When I park it in the garage after a road trip, there isn't anything on the garage floor the next day when I go out to detail and clean the car, nor anything in-between. * The motor and transmission are completely stock with only a couple of small changes. 1) I have the Diesel Fuel-Solenoid-Driver (FSD) mounted underneath the front bumper using a custom harness designed specifically for the 6.5 diesel. It's been mounted under there for 10 years, and I have never had any issues with it. I did that as a preventative measure when I first purchased it. I did just swap out the FSD for a brand-new one from LeroyDiesel.com, and it has a 1 year warrantee, so I think that it in excellent shape. I did that because the old FSD was 10 years old, and the guys on TheTruckStop.US told me it was really time to swap it out for a new one. 2) In addition, I removed the "Turbo Power" vanity cover over the engine. I thought it got in the way of seeing the engine and the components, and did absolutely nothing functionally, so I removed it and recycled it. People sell them on Ebay for about $50 bucks. I like the engine without it. Other than that, the motor and transmission are completely stock. I do exceed the factory maintenance guidelines... I change oil every 3000 miles. I use Delo 400LE 15/40 and usually Mobil 1 Oil Filters. I use stock GMC parts on everything else. I change the fuel filter once a year. I usually use Stanadyne fuel filters, which is what the factory specifies. I use Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease every 3000 miles. -teresaturlington~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~From:miraclecardoctor1To:teresaturlingtonSubject:miraclecardoctor1 has sent a question about item #291150441094, ending on May-25-14 22:55:20 PDT - Chevrolet : Suburban SLTSent Date:May-24-14 05:18:19 PDTDear teresaturlington,What did it tow, is there any leaks or anything I need to fix on it at all.
