Vehicle Detail
This was the 1978 Flagship for Suzuki. Always garaged a true time machine. It is a three owner bike, first owner was a pilot that kept records which comes with the GS. Second owner was a gentleman that had it for a short while and then consigned the GS secondary to hard times. I bought it primarily to add it to my collection and not have someone butcher it up. The only thing I did is put superbike bars on and took the rack off. So you know it was not abused.( I put a picture with the rack and high bars on.) I also put shorter blinkers on. I have the OEM blinkers that will go with the GS. I have the rack and bars to whoever would want them as well. It comes with a service manual with the record keeping. It runs, rides excellent. The shiny stock exhaust is clear without any issues, it does not seem like a 39K bike. It rides and pulls like a lower mileage one. All of it is stock and unmolested. The paint is near stunning, it doesn't appear to have EVER been down, i.e. in my driveway, previous owner, my wife and all the other excuses. This would make a wonderful addition to any collector. The NADA has pristine ones upward to $5000. You can have this one for my low reserve of half of that or the buy it now. I'm just attempting to break even for what I paid. I have three including this one. The last one I saw went to $3300 and did not make reserve and IMO, this one is much nicer. The GS1000 has a history with the famed tuner and builder "Pops" Yoshimura. Wes Cooley campaign on a GS that Pops built and excelled at 80's Superbike racing. The engines are near bullet proof and to prove that the GS 1000 won the Suzuka 24 hour endurance race in Japan on a Yoshimura machine ridden by Wes Cooley and team. Vance and Hines also drag raced the GS's as well. This will put a smile on any enthusiast's or collectors face, the vintage motorcycle collectors are starting to catch on to the GS 1000 as the Z1's, KZ's, Z1R's and Mark II's are going out of sight, the "I should picked that up" when they weren't as expensive will go by the wayside. The we can all say "I remember when you............ If you would like more history of the GS1000 go to GS Resources on the web, it is the mecca of GS information. Happy bidding now! On May-19-14 at 07:44:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I will assist shipper as best I can but it is up to the buyer to provide the pick up and shipping. The GS 1000 is sold as is and there is a non refundable $500 upon purchase, good luck bidding. On May-21-14 at 23:44:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I am including the Brief Sheet that the original owner had given the second owner: Original Owner States: I'm the bikes original owner. I bought it new at Canoga Park Suzuki, California and have been the only owner. I Hope the following will help the subsequent owner. The bike has been meticulously maintained, with oil and filter changes with Suzuki 4 stroke oil every 2,000 miles. This very important, as these bikes are very sensitive to oil quality. The next oil and filter change is due at 39,500 miles. The bikes compression was checked at 38,200 miles with the following results: #1 - 145 # #2 - 135 # #3 -135# #4 -140# Valve adjustment was done at 38,200 #1 intake .03 exhaust .08 #2 intake .04 exhaust .07 #3 intake .08 exhaust .07 #4 intake .03 exhaust .05 new throttle cables at 30,000, Carbs and clutch were rebuilt at 35,000 new clutch cable as well. Progressive front springs. Chain and sprockets at 25,000 miles.
