Vehicle Detail
{I had to list this as "Tacoma" as "Pickup" or "HiLux" were not options in the Toyota models to choose from Ebay.) Up for sale is a 1987 Toyota Xtra cab with long bed pickup. (The Toyota Xtra cab is NOT an extra row of seats - rather, it’s extra space behind the driver/passenger bench seats.) This model is not easy to find - and definitely not one in this sort of condition (e.g. no rust, low miles, etc.) When my mom was working, she used it primarily to get to/from work - all freeway and 6 miles round trip. There were occasional trips to Las Vegas (they live in southern California) but, for the most part, this truck was used for short trips. My dad (original owner) gave me this truck in July 2004. I drove it from the LA area to Columbus OH over a three day period in early July 2004. At time of transfer, it had 100,900 miles on it. In the past ten years, I put less than 9000 miles on it. It’s been garaged the entire time I’ve owned it. I have all maintenance records on the truck since July 2004. I have some records from my dad’s ownership but not all of them. My parents were very good about regular oil changes, etc. Below are the notable repairs from the past ten years: Feb 2005Battery replaced March 2006Timing chain replacedWater pump replaced I have record of the current tires being purchased in Oct 2001 at 94,200 miles. (Michelin X radials) They have at least 75% tread left. I took as many photos as possible to give a true and accurate depiction of this vehicle. Some items to note: There are no visible cracks in the dashboard, probably due to my parents and myself garaging this vehicle most of the time. There are no visible tears in the headliner. It’s intact and is not sagging. There are no visible tears in the cabin's upholstery. This vehicle has no visible rust on its body. There is no air conditioning in this vehicle - it never had it. (In the 1980s, air conditioning was an added extra/option for most vehicles.) This is one of the last model years that vehicles had vent windows, the small separate triangular shaped windows next to the driver and passenger.Windshield is in good condition - no visible cracks. This vehicle has 4 speed automatic transmission with overdrive available by pressing a button on the end of the transmission shifter. (Use it on the freeway when you’re out of “stop and go” traffic - it helps to boost the MPG a bit.)There is very *slight* rust on the surface of the rear bumper - it can be removed by using some rubbing compound.Although the windshield wiper control button is missing (see photo), the windshield wipers do work. (The control button is used to spray windshield wiper fluid on the front windshield.)There is a small dent right below the right rear tail light (see photo). This happened about a year ago when my wife backed into a parked car on the street behind our driveway. There was no damage to the frame, etc. I replaced the right rear tail light. There is a slight “crumple” in the rear bumper on the right side (see photo).Except for the shell door gas props (the things that help the door in an “up” position), the camper shell is in good condition - no leaks, etc.The shell door gas props failed many years ago - I never gotten around to replacing them. I found that by using a broomstick, the shell door stays propped up. (See photo - you’ll see a light blue broom handle in a couple of the photos, propping up the shell door.)It has an installed alarm - I removed the fuse several years ago when I determined it was draining the battery since I was not driving it more than once a month. It has a working stereo with cassette player (yes, it's THAT old). The stereo is missing the left (on/off) knob. I recommend replacing the entire unit if you plan to listen to music in this vehicle.
