Vehicle Detail
Up for grabs is our 2011 GTI named Ted. We picked Ted up on May 2nd, 2011 from Bayside VW here in NY. Ted spent the first two years of his life living in a garage on Long Island. Last year we bought a house here in Queens, NY where he spent the rest of his time safely tucked away in the garage. He has never been in an accident, never driven in snow, and mainly used for long distance drives out of state in the warmer months. He has been owned by two VW nuts that have owned many VWs before, (this is my 5th GTI) so we know the special care and feeding that a VW craves. This car has been maintained at Bayside VW since we took delivery. All maintenance is up to date (3 year/ 30K service was done in February) and we paid for in-between oil changes every 6 months/5K miles. We have all records. We are the original owners, not some used car lot, so we know this car inside and out. The car is Carbon Grey Metallic with the interlagos cloth seats, RNS 315 Naviagtion, Xenon Headlamps, 6 speed manual, heated seats and washer nozzles. The mileage sits at 25,279 miles but it may accumulate a few more miles between now and the end of the auction. So enough personification. Now on to the details: This car runs and drives 110%, and has been meticulously looked after. We maintain our cars to last 200K+ miles and fully expected to own this car forever but unfortunately I had back surgery last year and can not longer drive a manual transmission for any extended period of time. Vag Com Mods: Being a VW nerd, I quickly added all the Vag-Com mods that were available without additional hardware: DRLs through fog lamps, fog lamps as cornering lamps, guage sweep, driver's side heated seat level memory, follow me home and tandem mirror adjustment. Warranties: The factory 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty expires on 5/2/14.VW Drive Easy short-term Platinum Plus extended warranty that we bought which can be transferred to a new owner. This is good until 5/2/15 or 48K miles. This also includes such nice things as front or rear brake pads replacement, wipers blade replacement and one wheel alignment. This has zero deductible. This is a $1000 value. We also bought the wheel and tire insurance which covers the tires worn to 2/32nds and rims if they are damaged so badly they no longer hold air. This coverage is good until 5/2/16 with unlimited mileage and zero deductible. Powertrain is covered until 5/2/16 or 60K miles. Condition: As in life, there always mishaps. I'll list the bad first: (See pics) The front bumper has a small spot of damage from a curb. A couple of the wheels have very miror curb rash. The driver's side door has a small ding in it a few inches below the handle. The door of our other car slipped out of my hand. Three weeks after we bought it. The worst part is the driver's side fender which has a sizeable scrape from a shopping cart around christmas time. Its not through the paint, so I wasn't concerned about rust. There are some stone chips on the leading edge of the hood from the highway. Everything inside and out works. We lobbied VW to replace the hood blanket with the metallic heat shield version because the old one was hanging down. (See pics) They also updated the software in the MDI system for the I-pod skipping between songs and had the radio software updated for no AM radio reception. There was a software update done to cure a low idle and all of the wheels and tires have been balanced. This is a no-reserve auction and I reserve the right to end it at any time. The vehicle will be sold as-is, where is, and you are responsible for having it shipped or picked up. I will make reasonable accomodations for pickup. A $500 deposit must be made through PayPal to hold the vehicle within 48 hours. Payment can only be made in cash or certified funds. If paying in certified funds, pickup must be made during normal business hours so I may present the check to my bank. You can't be too careful these days. The vehicle has a clean NYS title with the lien release paperwork from VW credit.
