Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this basement find 1970 Porsche 911T. This is a very honest, complete car. This would make a great project for someone wanting to restore an older 911 or repair the floor pans and keep it on the road as a survivor. This vehicle is equipped with a 2.2l with zenith carbs and four speed dog leg manual transmission. The info we received on this car is as follows: It is an original Knoxville Tn car. The car belonged to a gentleman who was planning to restore the car and had the motor "gone through" with Carrera tensioners installed. How far he had the motor "gone through" we do not know. We did take the time to get the car running. We had to run it off an auxiliary fuel source as the tank is in pretty rough shape and not bolted in the car. The original ignition system with Magneti Marelli distributor is in place and is working. We had to tear the carbs down and completely go through them to get her running. The motor sounds really good and makes great oil pressure. All electrical wiring seems to be intact and functional, the tachometer, oil pressure gauge and lights are working. Power supplies are present at the fuel pump and works off of the ignition switch as the should. We were also told the car has a new clutch and the exhaust has brand new heat exchangers with a new Dansk muffler. Everything on the car appears to be original except for the wheels. They do not appear to be original Fuchs but reproductions. The interior is all original with what appears to be all of the carpet, seats etc and appears to be in VERY good condition. The previous owner removed the pedals and was about to attempt cutting the floor pans out for replacement. All new sheet metal for repairs are included as well as all of the interior which has been removed from the car. The headliner is also in perfect condition! The exterior of the car is very straight and the doors open and shut perfectly. All body panel gaps are very good. The car was repainted years ago and appears to be the proper color of Light Ivory/11. Luckily the exterior of the car was the only thing repainted and all jambs appear to be original paint. The exterior does have light scratches and dents from storage, but nothing major. All of the under carriage is in good shape and there are no signs of collision in the nose, the rear or the rockers. I was told the car was stored outside facing downhill for a few years and it was covered with a tarp. So I assume from the nature of the damage to the floor boards that water was leaking through the windshield seal and pooling forward which caused the damage seen in the pictures. We have provided as many pictures as we could of the underside of the car to show the extent of the damage to the chassis. The worst damage seems to have been consolidated to the floor pans, and the front bulkhead or firewall (not sure what to call it) as well as the passenger side rocker panel. We will include all of the replacement panels we received with the car which are included in the pics. We did apply for a birth certificate and found that the engine does not match the chassis, but is the proper 2.2 liter. The birth cert did not turn up a gearbox number so we cannot say if it is original to the car. Included with the sale of this 911 are the original seats, interior trim pieces, as well as replacement floor pans that are ready to be welded in.
