Vehicle Detail
Here just in time for riding season is a great looking 1983 Honda V65 Magna. The bike is in great cosmetic shape, for a 30 year old machine. This bike runs very well, & is very strong, & great fun to ride. It starts right up, idles, & runs out very well. I bought this bike last year, & when I picked it up, it had been parked in a garage for the past 4-5 yrs. I cleaned all four of the carbs up thoroughly, & replaced the float bowl gaskets with new ones. The clutch slave cylinder got a rebuild, as well as the clutch master cylinder. Also the tank on this bike is near as perfect as I've ever seen, on a bike of the 80's. The previous owner had it removed from the bike, & stored in his attic, to keep it protected, so there are absolutely no dents, nicks, or scratches on the tank, except on the very bottom seam area, (which can hardly be seen). The tank did have some very light surface rust starting to show on the inside when I first got the bike, so I quickly treated the inside to remove all the rust, then coated the inside with the "Kreme" fuel tank liner, see pix. Now it's nice & white inside, & clean. The previous owner also put on a new set of OEM wheels & tires on this bike before it was parked. The tires have lots of tread left, as you can see in the pix, & the chrome on the wheels still have a nice mirror finish. He also had the seat recovered to the OEM state, & it is very clean. After I coated the tank, I wanted to protect the great paint job the bike has, so I pulled off all the body panels, including the rear cowl, both L/R side covers, & the tank, & had them all professionally clear-coated over, with about 4 coats of automotive quality clear coat. This bike really shines now, plus all the logos, & decals are protected from the elements! I did a little research on this year of the Magnas, ('83) & discovered that, as far as I can tell, there were only (2) color choices available, "Siren blue", & "Candy marroon". I had never seen any years of these bikes this light of shade of blue, so I don't think it to be an original color, but I may be wrong, if someone knows more accurately, please let me know. Still though, whoever did the paint job on the bike did a real good job I feel. Also I do have the orinal color "code" sticker, that goes on the frame. It tell the actual color the machine was painted from the factory, that will go with the bike to the winning bidder. It fell off during cleaning, & I haven't looked up the code to find out for myself. The bike also comes with the "official" OEM Honda shop manuel. This is the manuel the actual Honda dealership mechanic would use in the shop, when you brought your 1983-86 Magna in for a service, & not some aftermarket book that covers several different models. This one is soley made for the 83-86 Magnas, doesn't even cover the Sabres. It too is in great shape, with all pages present, & has been stored inside, out of weather, & in protective plastic sleeve. I installed a new battery when I got the bike last year, & I've kept it on a Tender all through the off season winter months. I also bought a rebuild kit for the fuel pump on the bike. This was a great option, versus replacing the entire pump. Basically the brushes on the inside are brand new, & works like a charm. All the 30yr old, dry rotted fuel lines have also been replaced, as well as the spark plugs. I installed all new NGK plugs, & new blue to match plug wires. Both the alternator cover, & opposite side, clutch cover started seeping oil just a little as I started riding the bike this spring, so I also replaced both gaskets to fix that issue. Nice & tight again now. The bike could use some new brake pads all the way around, & it does put a little fume in the air upon start up, if the bike has sit for a couple days. If ridden daily, I haven't noticed any. If I was keeping the bike, it would probably be a good investment to replace the valve seals, with new teflon coated style. You can pick the whole set of 16 on ebay for under $50. Besides that, everything works on the machine, with the exception of the brake light. I haven't got around to investigating this yet, might just be a fuse, or a short some where. This bike is ready to ride, & a low reserve price, so make it yours, don't miss it. Not too many of these old bikes left, in this clean shape! Questions, or comments welcome, happy bidding!
