Vehicle Detail
This is a "nice" car that needs TLC. Typical rust for the year and model, and living in the northeast for its entire life. The engine starts great, runs quiet, smoke free and well. The brakes are great. Probably needs a valve adjustment and new fuel filters. The trans shifts like they all do, which is to say well, but like it's connected by rubber bands. The car rides well, and the interior is free from odors (other than horsehair stuffing). I'd love to keep it, but to get through PA state inspection I'd have to work through my summer when I'd rather be camping etc. So here is what it needs: Tires, ball joints, idler bushing. There is rust on the floor (seat not falling through). If I was keeping, I'd rebuild the front end, install new floor pans, rockers, and rear lower quarters, and probably have a nice car for many years. This car was loved by it's previous owner for more than 20 years and it shows. The pictures are better than it looks up close, but it is straight and nice. Now, more not so good stuff. The sunroof doesn't open, don't know why. The Power door locks don't work, typical. The driver seat sags on the outside, but is comfortable. The fuel gauge works when it wants to, the temp gauge doesn't work, the speedo does! Dash lights are pretty goodThis car is sloooooowwww! I've had others and it seems typical. It cruises on the highway at 70 without a problem. Nice and smooth. Aside from the slightly loose steering it drives nice. I drove it home after it had sat for 3 years and it drove fine. This would be a great entry level for the beginning diesel or veggie oil enthusiast! If you are looking for really "great" 240D four speed, this isn't it, but it could be if you want to put in the time. Thanks for looking and feel free to email for more details.
