Vehicle Detail

1937 Dodge 4 Door Sedan with less than 26,000 believed to be original miles. Remnants of the dealer sticker still exists on the trunk lid. The sticker reads "King & Lambert, 7915 Broadway, PA. It is said that this was also a Desoto Dealer and the car was purchased new there. The original owner is reported to have stored the car, up on blocks, in his basement, from sometime in 1952 to sometime in 1980. In or about 1980 the car was sold to the second owner. The second owner kept the car until 1989 and at that time was sold to the third owner who kept the car until 2010. The current owner purchased this car from the third owner in Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania in 2010. The odometer at that time read 21,571 miles. Since purchasing the vehicle, the car has been upgraded to a 12 volt electrical system, all new wiring, fuse panel and a one wire GM alternator. A high energy ignition (HEI) distributor has been installed to eliminate the points and facilitate easier starting. Dual electric wiper motors replace the old vacuum units with individual switches to turn them on. Halogen sealed beam headlamps were installed and turn signals were added. A new 28,000 btu heater was installed with a heater control valve and dual cut off valves for summertime use. A voltmeter was installed to monitor the electrical charging system since the ammeter could not handle the high current of the alternator. A new late model headlight switch was installed to handle the load of the halogen headlamps. New running board covers were installed. All new grey tinted glass was installed. At 22,638 miles, 4 new radial tires were installed. These Diamondback radial tires greatly improve the ride and looks of the car. The car comes with what appears to be the original spare. This spare shows no evidence of ever being mounted on the car and looks like new. The windshield is the "crankout style", but the visor prevents the windshield from cranking out as long as it is installed. The intent of the above items was to make the car a good road worthy automobile, driveable at night, rainy, and cold weather. The 12 volt lighting system is very adequate for night time driving, the electric wipers accommodate rainy weather and the heater is almost always run on "low" to prevent the passengers from getting "too hot". This heater does the job! The car is believed to have the original body paint. Exceptions to this are; the visor was painted when installed. The fenderskirts were painted when installed. The running boards were stripped and repainted when the new running board covers were installed. Please note that this car is a 76 year old automobile. The body paint does have imperfections and blemishes as one would expect for this vintage automobile, such as; scuff marks, a few scratches, rock chip places, dull areas in the paint, and there are minimal cracks in the paint near the trunk lid. There is a slight dent in the passenger front fender and a ding in the driver side rear fender. In spite of all this, the car is an exceptional find and a magnificant specimen of this vintage automobile, as can be seen in the pictures. This is a good driver car and is driven on a regular basis at 55+ mph on the interstate. THERE IS NO KNOWN RUST HOLES IN THIS CAR, although some areas may have slight surface rust, primarily on the underneath side of the car. It appears to be very solid with no evidence found of any previous body damage, rips or tears or splits in the fenders. The original interior is mohair with minimal moth damage, although some does exist. There has been a second "throttle" cable installed at the dash knob area, to now act as a manual choke for ease of starting when the engine is cold. This cable is installed in the "panel light" switch position which was no longer used. The panel lights are now operated by the newly installed headlight switch. The rear window shade is still in the car at the rear window but has not been checked for functionality. There is a slight bend in the grille center strip. All four door locks are functioning and the car can be locked up with the key at the passenger door lock. The trunk lock is also functioning and the trunk can be locked with a key. The door oil change sticker shows that the car had 13,527 miles on May 13, 1950 Vehicle is located in Knoxville, Tennessee 37932. If you have questions please call Vern at 865-963-9734.
