Vehicle Detail

Just restored, 50 year old, rare European version matching numbers 1964 356 C coupe. VIN-129.647 ENGINE- P731.818 TRANSMISSION -78059. After an exhaustive search for the right 356, I located this car 2 and a half years ago on referral from a 356 Club member. It proved to be the perfect all original restoration candidate. The car drove perfectly and the engine was very responsive. It was an expensive but honest car, laser straight, perfect mechanically and well maintained but cosmetically it had a well worn original interior and an exterior color change to a very presentable but incorrect brownish gray color like some of the older Volvo's. After a thorough inspection and a long test drive my decision was immediate and my mission was defined. I had to have this car and I had to make it right. Fast forward two years and behold the flawless show quality factory correct 6401 slate gray paint with fawn leatherette and tan interior per the original build sheet. The paint, the glass and new chrome on the car all glisten as new. No aftermarket parts here. The all numbers matching mechanicals have been serviced and perform flawlessly. Factory panel fit and gaps. Rust free, all original sheet metal. No floor pan replacement or repairs. I benefited having purchased this car directly from its sole original owner who as a young US Army officer stationed in Germany in 1964 ordered the car new while still in the military and had it shipped to his home in Northern CA where it stayed in the same locale ever since. He loved this car and spared no expense. Always garaged, this original CA black plate car has 77,430 actual verifiable miles. I drove the car home to Redding, CA from Sacramento and the disassembly process began immediately for the new paint and interior. The gauges were sent for restoration along with the Blaupunkt radio and original speakers. Every piece of chrome was sent out and returned as new. The seats, recliners and rails were all rebuilt and a new old stock factory headliner was installed. Car was reassembled using the restored to new original, NOS and OEM German parts, trim, glass and all new rubber seals. Everything is correct, new and or reconditioned to excellent condition. The original engine had been overhauled incorporating the large bore 1750 upgrade at 50,000 miles by Mike Buckenham's-Stuggart West in Stockton, CA as evidenced by the detailed work order and paid receipt documentation. Included with the car is the original factory order, build sheet and delivery documentation signed by Porsche along with the entire repair and receipt history. The car still runs on its original optional chrome dated 2/64 factory wheels with the original hub caps and has its optional factory Euro horn ring, original tool pouch, original restored jack, trunk liner and spare. Because of the extent and cost of this restoration I sought financing after completion to recapture a portion of my investment through my credit union. The title is held by Sierra Central Credit Union in Redding, CA and they will assist in facilitating the sale transaction and title transfer to you instantly upon receipt of good funds. As a lender requirement the vehicle was appraised by Steve Linden www.stevelinden.com. a professional appraiser and chair member of NADA Guides. He assessed the vehicle condition as an OCPG Scale of 1- and rated it a 95 out of 100 point car which means it is at the maximum level before relegating it to a life of being a trailer queen. The car is valued at $108,000 and a copy of the appraisal can be made available to you. I was told that to bring this price on the open market I should consider selling overseas or transporting the car to one or more of the major auctions. Health complications this past year have made it impossible for me to enjoy the finished car now or in the foreseeable future. This is my only motivation to sell, and the major auction route is not a viable option for me. This car should be driven, enjoyed and shown. Since I am offering the vehicle "where is and as is", the appraiser suggested I could consider offering a discount of 10-20% to bring the price within "real world" numbers that you and I would expect to be both realistic for a buyer and attainable as a seller for a car of this caliber and level of restoration. I have adjusted my expectations and the auction reserve accordingly. This approach will give the prospective buyer a built in measure of comfort with an instant realized equity at time of purchase. The car is available for inspection by appointment. If coordinating the inspection proves difficult you may contact Mr. Angelo Aristo, owner of Angelo's Classic Import Service (530) 221-3653. Angelo is familiar with the car as is Darryl, his tech and they may be helpful in giving an honest and unbiased assessment of the car. They were there to assist with the final sorting to assure everything works as it should. Regarding logistics, you may pick the car up personally and drive it to your destination, or if you wish, I will assist in coordinating transport pickup here with your carrier of choice at this end. For overseas buyers, the car is situated approximately 5 hours from the outbound port of Oakland,CA to facilitate overseas transport. Transport time to docks on the east coast is typically 7 to 10 days by commercial carrier. Time is of the essence with this transaction. A non refundable $5000.00 good faith deposit towards the purchase price must be received in the form of a certified cashier's check or bank wire to my credit union within 48 hours of auction end with the balance due in verified funds within five (5) days of auction end. This auction is a binding contract and the vehicle at auction is being sold "where is" and "as is" without warranty. The time for due diligence, inspection or to obtain commitments for financing and insurance is prior to your bid, not after the auction. I will do whatever I can to help make this a smooth transaction for you at this end. I have been selling here on Ebay since 9/99 and have overseen the restoration, auction and transfer of several rare collector vehicles to their highly satisfied new owners. This car will not disappoint. Thanks for your interest.NOTE: Wife said to "just sell it" so we lowered Buy it Now price to $24,500 below appraisal.
