Vehicle Detail

Time to grab that summer project! 1960 MGA 1600 with solid frame and turning engine that needs bodywork. Photos tell all. Not rusted out anywhere major (trunk and bulkhead are good), but dents need pounding and some panel replacements, mostly around sills (what's new) will be needed to bring this baby back. Suspension is good. Missing windscreen, carbs, master cylinder, seats, and top frame. Tires are shot. These are things that are rather easily found and made good. Sometimes best to begin a restoration with what you can see and know what to replace. That way nothing is hidden. Bins full of parts, including heater, steering column, dash and gauges. A work of love--that is appreciating quickly, by the way On Mar-13-14 at 18:59:24 PDT, seller added the following information: Per question. I have a fiberglass front valence. The rear bumper, all splash plates, radiator are with car. On Mar-13-14 at 19:57:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Response to question regarding condition: Yes, I suppose that this is a time to be somewhat philosophical about this MG. I've restored a number of cars, Jag 140's and Triumphs--and a few MG's in addition to four or five motorcycles over the years since I was sixteen. Each has had its own particular damage, either from accident or abuse (kind of like people) and has needs in order to be made whole again. I've often had to ask myself just what level of care I was able to give to any one restoration before starting out. Was I able to give what was needed to do justice to the machine? Sounds silly, I know. But it's true. A restoration like this is one that you put your hands and heart into and which will try your patience and resolve. This child was once new. It's been beaten down and neglected. It has scars, but it's not done. It has in it what it needs to be whole again-solid frame, good metal in crucial places, and a character. It needs stuff to be reconditioned and remounted. It needs stuff that is missing altogether. It needs stitches. Mostly it needs somebody with skills and a plan to bring it back home in a rational and loving way-who has patience and a vision for completion. This is not a project for a kid or a fool. This is guy stuff. So much for philosophy. On Mar-14-14 at 12:09:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a question regarding the radiator duct panel ($150), which is missing in the first photos. I do have the panel. See new photo.
